Linus now has diabetes and pancreatitis. He has been prescribed buprenorphine for pain and amoxicillin for the infection. I give him 4units of pro zinc twice a day.
In addition he gets a Pepcid and some Methyl B-12. Should I be concerned about all these meds?
He has a ravenous appetite. Do any of these meds effect that?

antibiotics usually dampen their appetite.... and bupe can make them loopy depending on the dose.
Pepcid and b12 don't have any affect.
so like Dyana said.....
it's the diabetes.

the cells in his body aren't getting the nutrition even though he may eat a lot.
His body is literally starving. And he sounds like a big guy.

How are his bg numbers?

Linus is still on bup and still ravenous. He has not lost any weight, but his numbers are much better..mid 100s most testing times. He also still has trouble with his hind legs. If he is "starving", how can I feed him less? He steals food from the other cats. Any suggestions for us?

When Hidey had his dental they put him on Buprenorphine. It made him REALLY lovie, but also really hungry. It's funny because when I was concerned it seemed a lot of people on this site didnt have that issue also when I googled some had that issue and others did not. I think in that aspect its just like humans and they react differently to meds. As soon as Hidey was off the Buprenorphine his appetite returned to normal. If concerned about weight gain you may want to find a low cal food to give, but you can also add a bit of water to the food to help.

The unregulated diabetic may need as much as 50 % more food than a normal cat.

Linus seems to be pretty well regulated...and he weighs over 20 pounds....does he need or just think he needs....more food?

Would you define what you mean by regulated?
We can't see his numbers since you don't have a chart.
Regulation is when you get them under 200 all of the time.
