I used Buprenex for pain control in my acrokitty merlin who had arthritis issues. However he was also using cosequin to help. The cosequin does take some time to help achieve pain control tho.

Also some other things to consider - which we did use for Merlin - are acupuncture, adequan injections (we didn't have enough time to see how much that helped him but it works wonders in many) - and another drug that has helped other kitties alot is gabapentin. Right now I am looking into the adequan and gabapentin for my 17 year old kitty before I go for the bup.

You might want to try the other treatments first before Buprenex. They seem to be more suitable for arthritis relief. I'm not sure how old your kitty is but Merlin was 16.5 yrs old and we were doing more hospice care at the time due to his acro.
 
Bupe is in short supply these days although I've heard that the manufacturer will start producing more.

What I like is Dasequin, same maker as Cosequin, and self warming mats on top of egg crate mattresses for senior pets. I haven't tried the other meds that Patti mentioned but have heard good things about them.

We also added ramps and steps for seniors so they didn't have to jump as much.

I thought i would try the Buprenex for a few times to see if that is what is causing Fluffy
to feel bad. Is the gabapentin safer?

He is getting the Adequin shots but has had only 5 so far.
Aspirin not helping.

I need something for pain that i could use a short while on him.
He is 7years old and had both hips crushed and right back foot crushed before
7 months old when i found him.

Flamie has bad arthritis in his left hock joint which has been broken twice and I have used this for him for several years now.

I take one tablet, crush it in a mortar & pestal (or between 2 spoons) and sprinkle the powdered tablet into a teaspoon of Flamie's favorite food (he happens to LOVE baby food!). I have never had any problems with him taking it, no side effects, no stomach upset, etc.

I have found this to be a good treatment for Flamie so maybe it willf help Fluffy too. I always like to start with a more natural approach and see if that works before I resort to heavy duty drugs. So, far we've had success with this.

Fluffy is eating a lot of Chicken and gravy baby food right now so maybe he will
take this.
I know he doesn't need anymore drugs right now.
