I can give bupe to phoebe .10ml of bupe gel in her ear. The first time I gave it to her she laid over and didn't move for about 3 minutes. Then she had trouble picking her head up. So I gave and have been giving her half dose 2x daily. How long can she be on this, it seems to help her getting around. But doesn't seem to last very long. She also gets gabapentin 1/3 of a capsule, cosequin for arthritis she pops and cracks as she walks. The question is how long can she take this bupe daily? Should I give her the full amount to hold her longer? With her IBD, p-titis and arthritis should she just keep taking it. Is there withdrawals?

I can only assume you're using the same as me, transdermal from a preloaded syringe onto the little spoon? Noah will be on it for the rest of his life. He uses 0.16mg/.01ml. He gets 0.05ml twice a day There can be painful withdrawal, it's an opioid, so if you're going to cut back plan on very small increments.

It's a dose to effect. I've used the oral and could give it up to every 8 hours. Many use it long term. I only used as needed with pancreatitis flares when nausea med alone didn't cut it.

Don't want to stop it if she needs it. Was just wondering if anyone was on it everyday for a long period of time without consequence. Ty.

I am guessing she will need it for a long time with inflammatory bowel, and p-titis and arthritis. She just moves so carefully and slowly, I feel like she is in pain 24/7. She won't sleep for long, looking for food. Follows me everywhere. I feel bad everytime I move because she follows me.

Currently she is getting a half dose of .10 ml of bupe about 3 times and she is getting about 30mg of gabapentin x2. We have to take a 100ml capsule and give her a third of it, because she will not eat the compounded liquid gabapentin.

Neko was on .22ml liquid bupe twice a day for three years. It was for bad arthritis and her acromegaly symptoms. The other important thing to mention when you talk bupe dose is the concentration. It varies. You might also want to investigate Adequan for the arthritis. I'm not sure I would use bupe for IBD. Neko took budesonide and it helped reduce the bowel thickening.

My wife takes Gabapentin and it makes her very sleepy. She told the doctor so of course he increased the dose. Hello? Anyone with a medical degree home? They just don't listen.

My Moxie is on 50 mg gabepentin twice daily.
I am on 300-600 mg gabepentin three times daily and it does not make me sleeply

We tried a gabapentin trial for Neko, and it made her sleepy. EBIC/ECID. So we stuck to just buprenorphine which did not.

Why are you giving the Cerinia?
Cerinia is for vomiting and there really is not other one as good.
Ondansetron is excellent for anti-nausea and is generic for Zofran

I don't think so, when I was researching for Lois&Java the buprenorphine has a duration of action time of like 24-37 hours. Let me find the post again before I tag them :)

Don't confuse duration of effects with time to maximum action. Per the document,
Onset of effects 30–60 minutes
Peak clinical effects 1–4 hours
Duration of effects 8–12 hours at low dose (e.g. 2 mg) 24–72 hours at high dose (e.g. >16 mg)
Buprenorphine can be dosed every 8 hours if needed. Since the time to peek effect is 1-4 hours, dosing every 8 hours vice every 12 hours should not cause a buildup and thus reducing dose should not be required.

My vet have prescribed Buprenorphine and the instructions said dose every 8 or 12 hours as needed.

Buprenorphine and Gabapentin are additive and if both given together the effects are magnified and reducing dose may be required.

Right. I wasn't necessarily saying anything about dosing but just that the effects of her staring off might linger long after the effect of the meds.
