BUP or GABA??? for ACROARTHRITIS?

Hi I hope everyone is safe and well Amethysts Arthritis is getting worse:( I feel that the Gaba is not helping her at all Was wondering if BUP would be better for her comfort and pain?? Thanks:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
 
Sorry to hear Amethysts arthritis is getting worse. I think it depends on the acrocat whether gaba or bupe is better. I tried both and buprenorphine worked better for Neko. Is Amethyst also getting Adequan? I've heard it helps quite a few kitties. Neko was getting Cartrophen, something similar available in Canada.

Other things I tried were hyaluronic acid, which is supposed to help the joints. Duralactin is an anti-inflammatory and helped Neko. Check with your vet before starting either of those.

How much does Amethysts weight? 50mg BID is standard dose. My civi Moxie who weights about 10 lb is on 50mg BID. She has had joint degradation problems that was first noticed when she was less than a year old. She is now 13 and also gets Cosequin daily and Adequan shots monthly
 
Hi The Adequan Shots would be great BUT I unfortunately can not afford them right now Our Vet feels that Amethyst needs more Gabapentin so I am slowly increasing her dose Praying for a Financial Blessing so that I will be able to afford the Adequan Shots for her Thank you for your help!!:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
 
Hi Pamela. Any update on how Amethyst's arthritis is doing? Did you decide to go with more gabapentin or to try buprenorphine. I spoke with my vet about buprenorphine and she told me that, in cats on long-term buprenorphine, she does not see a lot of constipation problems. She said she does see this a lot in dogs.

Hi Suzanne:bighug::bighug: Our wonderful Home vet is coming tomorrow, we are going to transition Amethyst off the Gaba and try her on CBD OIL for Animals:cat::)

It is coming from Holistapet They are very helpful. I when onto their Web Page and asked for a chat They told me what strength I need and how much I should be giving Amethyst and JoJo everyday. JoyBee told me she will only use CBD Oil from Charlottes Web,they are a little too pricey for me.:)
