Bunny is now drinking water, running from the litter after using it, eating mostly on her own, snuggling at night...she does sleep a lot more than her sisters but she's been through a lot..Her numbers were below 200 at +6 hours on Monday and yesterday( Thursday ) they were 69 at +6... she is still on 1 unit once a day...we purchased a relion prime, strips and 30mm lancets...Cornel has several videos that we plan to watch and tomorrow morning we are starting home testing. My vet uses a human meter so I'm hoping we can get this all worked out
I have picked up a lot of information here and I want to thank everyone!!

Hi, I am glad Bunny is feeling better. FD can take a lot out of a kitty, I think Jones slept the first month after his diagnosis. Once he was more stable he started to come around more. He needed to heal.

Those are some huge differences at +6! Good plan on the home testing! It may not be the easiest thing to start with, but the tips given it becomes easier. Just remember to breath! And if it doesn't work and Bunny is edgy - treat her and let her go for bit then try again. Jones now runs to the table to get his done when I get up and when I get home at night.

I have to say the home testing and spreadsheet are going to be the two best tools you have for keeping Bunny safe and on the road to possible remission.

I use a human meter and it works great.

Ask all the questions you need to when you get rolling as I am sure a couple will come up. Also if you need to vent, cry, scream - we are here for that too!

Great to hear things are going well for you and Bunny! Sounds like you are well on your way with supplies and a plan. I would suggest getting your spreadsheet going now that you are doing home testing. Another thing that might help is notation in your signature re: recent hypo / seizure event. :bighug:

Just watching the Cornel feline videos and it's a bit confusing, they suggest a good reading between 100-300 and my vet thought 60's were ok...thank you for the videos!
To clarify, it's my husband who does the shots and he is willing to learn home testing, I want to also be able to do it when he's not available.

Are you trying to learn about what is considered a regulated diabetic cat? In addition to the home tests :). And did you need the SS template link again?

To be honest I just want the best, I'm still sorting through all the info and trying to get an understanding...I saved the links but it would be nice to get them again too:)

On a human meter, a non-diabetic cat would typically read between 50-120. We recommend that when you are starting out, you don't shoot if the number is below 200, although once you learn to monitor regularly and have some data on how your cat responds, that number can be lowered.

Getting the spreadsheet setup will really help you to start to see Bunny's patterns and figure out what she needs. Here is the link for that: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/fdmb-spreadsheet-instructions.130337/

You can also come over the prozinc forum and post an introduction to find more people who are using your insulin. Great job getting started with home testing!!!

Aww, yes always give her a treat even if the test is unsuccessful

Tested Bunny with 26g and she was 98 30 mins after a meal and 48 hours after her last shot....I am struggling to create a ss using the template...I'm sure I can do it as soon as I have time to get down and read all the help files, just wanted to post a quick update

awesome! Looks like Bunny is going to be one of the lucky ones that is diet controlled! Awesome!
