Yesterday I discovered a bump under Pax Draconis' chin. It was about 1cm x 1.5cm. He was diagnosed with diabetes and started Lantus on 6/1. He was only on it until 6/11 when his numbers stabilized.

Has anyone else experienced this?

On about 6/7 he started using pet-safe eat well so I could feed him wet food during the day while I am at work https://www.chewy.com/petsafe-eatwell-5-meal-automatic-pet/dp/48080.

About 2 weeks ago he started using new bowls for when I was at home

Could this be the metal or plastic he is allergic to? It doesn't seem like pimples.
His numbers have been normal (I am at work and can't update the spreadsheet. I tend to track it with an app on my phone). Below 120 even after eating.

see if you can post a picture -- especially if it has little black spots, it could be the annoying "cat acne"

apparently not much of a problem unless he scratches at it, or if it gets infected or becomes abscessed (like Catcat's did)
vet cleared Catcat's abscess out when she did a dental cleaning and extractions, but it's persistent -- she send home a bunch of gauze soaked in chlorhexidine, to swipe his chin twice a day

I've always used ceramic or glass bowls for Catcat, running them through the dishwasher, so I suspect it's hormonal, not allergy per se -- seems to be related to the problem I had years ago -- "stud tail" -- where the oil glands in the skin near the top of the body adjacent to tail, plug up, become similar to human blackheads -- easy enough to use a hot wet washcloth on tail base, NOT easy to use on chin

There can be many different causes for bumps. It is possible that it could be related to the bowls, especially if it did not start until you changed bowls. I hear of plastic being a culprit more often than other materials, but anything is possible. When did the bump come up in relation to the new bowls? If it did not exist at all prior to the newest bowls, you could stop using those for awhile and see if it clears up. If it started coming up between the new feeder and the new bowls, you could try putting a small metal or ceramic bowl within the compartments in the feeder to see if it clears up. Make sure whatever you use is very clean for each use (I'm sure you probably already do that, just wanted to mention it).

Feline acne does not necessarily look like human acne. You may not be able to see much more than just the fact that there is a bump there. If that is what it is, keeping it clean is important. Mia had a bump that the vet suspected might be feline acne once, and she had me wipe the area twice daily with GentaVed and clean it once daily with BPO-3. That was the one and only time Mia had a bump like that. I still have no idea what caused it and whether it was acne or not, but the prescribed treatment apparently worked.

There are also some type of bumps that come from within. Willow has a long history of allergy issues. Last month, she started having bumps come up around her neck and chin (she has a lot of very dense, long hair so getting a good look was very hard). This had never happened, and I was very concerned, so I took her to the vet. Based on an exam of the bumps, the vet felt that they were coming from within and not something external (at first I thought maybe she was scratching herself and causing scabs or something along those lines). Allergies can cause all kinds of things. She was given Temaril P which cleared them up within two or three days, and thus far, they have not come back. I think this type of bump is much less common than something like feline acne or a direct allergy response to something external touching the area.

Thank you both for your responses. The the metal bowls are the newest ones so I have pulled those away first to see if that would help. I had a cat in the past that had the small acne bumps, but this is different. It feels more like a mass. For sanity sake, I did make an appointment with the vet today. I will follow up with what they say.

I only noticed the bump yesterday and he has been using the bowls for weeks now. However, I do know that sometimes it takes some time for allergies to start.

Thank you again.

Just got back from the vet. It looks like there is a little bit of acne, but also that he may have been bit by something. I am giving him probiotics and will keep an eye on him. I did take away his new metal bowls just in case. his spreadsheet has also been updated.

It definitely could be feline acne from the plastic. I had a cat years ago that had it. For her feeding on glass didn’t help.
