I have posted Bugs's ss. I took hs blood with new meter and it is 180 down from the 400's Please take a look to see if I'm doing anything wrong, and what dose of Lantus I should give. My vet has him on 3 units 2x day. I took him down to 2.5 and he seems to be regulating. He is acting better and not using potty as much, he is 13 so he is kinda sleepy all the time. I need to know what units to give or not to give to get him OTJ when the time comes.. ALL help will be helpful. Thank you FDMB I could not do this without ur help. I have learned more here than my own vet....

Don't know if I'm suppose to do this or not but here is my phone # I need all the help I can get.. My name is Jenn...Thank you!!!!

please remove your phone number - after this is the internet and you dont want people to have your number. also all info and advice is given on the board, this public forum so others can chime in and advice -

have you visited the lantus tight regulation forum yet? have you read the info there?

hi Jenn
I would remove your phone number - this is a public site...

Is the 180 today at 6 hours after shot (ie. +6)?

Could you move your numbers to the standard spreadsheet we use - its easy to setup, based on a template?
That way dosing advisors can quickly see what's going on and will be able to help going forward.
Here's how to do it > setting up the spreadsheet

Once you do that, you could start posting on the lantus board - its a busy board and lots of advisors are around.

You probably want to take your phone number down...this is the internet and you never know when a creep is going to cruise by.
It looks like that 2.5 is working well for him at the moment. Lantus isn't an insulin that doses on a sliding scale. You want to make an adjustment and hold it for AT LEAST three days. Since 2.5 U looks like it's doing something good, hold that for a few days.

Jen

Like Mary said Lantus is not an adjustable insulin. If you give 2.5 units in the morning you should give 2.5 units in the evening. Then you should hold him at that dose for at least 3 days to see how he adjusts. Could be why his numbers are a little off. Also you might want to go over to the Lantus board, they can give help with the dosing adjustments.
I am going to ask some of the Lantus users to look in on you.

Terri

@ Denise, yes, this was 6 hours after shot. Not sure on how to do the right ss but will try again tonight. I am just learning all this stuff and really really need help. thank you. so much.

If you get stuck, post for help.
Its just a different layout but still in google docs.

180 is a nice mid-cycle number :-D

It would help a lot if you used our spreadsheet template - we could see what is going on better and advise. Do you want me to ask someone else to help you out?
