budesonide/entocort questions ... for diabetic in remission

after 6 days on the budesonide her diarrhea stopped. after 2 years of
diarrhea, it stopped. it's only been a few days now but i guess that is
good. also, she has gained some weight, maybe 4/10 pound. so i am happy
about that. still wondering

should i add the leukaren and previuosly instructed by specialsit

can i go to half an mg per day of budesonide (now she's on 1 mg per day) to see if that
works?

other than stomach ulcers, blood sugar, liver values, what do i have to
look for in side effects.

i am concerned about her being on a steroid long term.
how long have your cats been on budesonide and what side effects have you
noticed?

if i were to go to 1/2 mg, how would i go about that? go straight to it
or taper currentl dose?...

thanks a lot for the help. when i asked my local vet what side effects to
look for said, "has she collapsed?" and nothing else.
what an a-hole.

i also asked him about the stomach irritation and he said not to worry
about that unless she had some other medical condiation that would cause
it. clueless, he is, i expect. i feed her alot around pill time and wash
down with a little water.

any help or advice is appreciated.
do you think if the diarrhea stops and she gains weight that means she
doesn't have cancer?
her diagnosis was ibd vs small cell lymphoma
didn't know which and i decided to just started medicating.

Re: budesonide/entocort questions ... for diabetic in remiss

It is up to you and your vet if you want to start on the Leukeran. Budesonide is mild steroid and tends to stay in the gut. I think my Mitten has been on it for 1 1/2 years. My Bailey was on it till about 1 1/2 months ago when i/vet switched to prednisolone. I would talk to your vet about going to 1/2 mg but I would not expect that any tapering is required. The standard dose for a normal weight cat is 1 mg. Weight gain does not necessarily mean that it is not cancer. Not infrequently IBD leads to lymphoma.
