I've updated Buddy's data through the end of March 2023. He is well into 14 cycles on this dose of PZI 1.25 units q12hr, but we will wait another few days to do a BG curve. Last week a lump behind his left front leg became an ulcerated infection, so the Vet gave him injectable antibiotic... and a cute little tubular body bandage so he doesn't mess with the wound :-) Infection can play havoc with BG which is why the additional wait to see if 1.25 units will stabilize his numbers closer to normal. If no improvement, his dose will go up to 1.5 units q12hr. If the BG's range does not get get narrower by the end of the month we will likely switch to glargine.

Looks like Buddy has had 5 days on the antibiotic. How is the wound looking. ?
The BGs are still high.
I’ll tag @Suzanne & Darcy and @FrostD as they are prozinc users re the dose.
Thanks for checking. The wound is better and less inflamed as long as I keep it ‘bandaged’ so he doesn’t groom the area. We will check in again with the Vet this week. Yes, BGs are high but he was bouncing around even before the antibiotic. His mood, appetite, and activity are all good.

That's enough time on the antibiotic to have seen a noticeable difference in BG, plus we don't want to risk ketones.

I do think an increase is in order BUT those yellow AMPS without the nighttime tests the cycle before give me pause. Not sure how low he may be going overnight to end up yellow in the AM.

Good point. The only idea I had was that he ate his food more quickly with Friskies added to Purina DM. Usually he picks at it over 2-3 hr but then he started eating all within 30 minutes so there was more than the usual 4 hour 'bowl empty' time before AMPS was done. I'm eliminating the Friskies for now (after 4/3) just to see. I've added a couple of later PM cycle tests which don't indicate lows, but his BG are going up so difficult to interpret. We'll get his dose adjusted up.
