Good and bad- vet test came back everything the sam e as they were last time , 7 months ago.
Bad because i realize today thta he in incontinant. his bed and box smell like urine-had to throw them out.
I work at home and see clients and cannot have my 1 room apt. smellimg like urine.
On the other hand, Buddy is still eating ok and grooming, although he just sleeps in th e
closet all the time . I can't imagine putting him down as long as he is still eating and drinking and breathing.
but i have to work in thi space and he has no pleasure in life anymore, as far as i can tell.
I am absolutely heart sickened and can't bear the thought of being without my companion of 17 years.
Has anyone ever said goodbye to their animal while still has a good appetite ?

I've had to make the decision when the cat was still active, but had lost so much weight she couldn't stay warm, and with renal disease, antibiotics to treat the oral infection could have killed her slowly and unpleasantly. She wouldn't let me do fluids, either.

I have a photo of her looking out the window with interest, taken that last day.

BJM- that's very sad -- but i'm sure you did the right thing by her.
you seem like avery sensitive and loving parent.

Linda-- his #'s have always been the same -despite my very best efforts.
he is under 200 half the time , and very high the other half.
if his bg is 150-200 for 2 or 3 days, he will rebound to 400 the next 2days. even when i give him just .50 U he will swing.
I think my boy is just plian tired.

This is the hardest thing that you humans must do. If you do not think Buddy is doing well and enjoying his life, it may be time to help him that last time

The human had to do that with Pepe and he was very sad. He cried when he took Pepe to the humans in white coats that last time.

Thanks for asking-i was actually going to add a post soon.
My old Buddy is back--he 's doing good! Spent $600 at vet for tests to find out nothing is wrong,
and since last week he's back to normal--alert , eating happy...go figure! :o
maybe he just wanted me to show how much i care by spending all my money on him!
