Has had very niosy stomach gurgling for 2 weeks now, (can hear it from across the room).
No other sympotms , grooming , poop pee, eating, all OK.
BUT 1 hour ago, he stared isolating in the other room. only time he did that was 1 yr ago when he had P-titus.
we went to the vet for bloodwork yesterday, results :No P=titus
BUN now 64, was 40 only 10 months ago.
he is anemic ;24 out of a range of 29-48.
also, he has low red blood cells..evrything else normal.
vet suggested an ultra sound but i would not do anything if he has cancer, being he is alomst 18, so why bother?
anyone have any idea what to do next? Vet
said REhmannia is a good herb for the kidney, but his stomach is so noisey now. i just gave him cerenia,
although not vomiting.has anyone experienced gurgling like this sans any other symptoms?
thanks very much.

Has anything else changed? Have you tried Pepto Bismal?

Hoping it's just a blip and that it passes quickly. Good luck!

What was the creatinine value?
Do y have a urine specific gravity reading?
Those will help in determine if the kidneys are a problem.
Did the blood work included a reticulocyte count? The would held determine if Buddy is not producing enough red blood cells or if red blood cells are drying/leaving the circulatory system (internal bleeding).

Larry --vet said Creatine and other one is normal...
will pick up copy of bloodwork tomorw and get back to you about results...THANKS!
PS can you believe vet suggested something called pet-tinic for his iron deficiency---
first ingrediant ...corn syrup! second one-sugar!!

Marci,

Much of what you report sounds like Cami from last winter/spring - actually, she had loud intestinal noises from the time I got her (a year ago) until a recently. She was anemic, her kidney values were elevated, I'm not sure about her iron and can't remember her hemoglobin, but I think it was low. Her potassium was below low (still is low normal). She had a struggle with constipation and was diagnosed with mega colon - I don't think that is what Buddy has.

What I think is that Cami's issues were related to a wide-spread bacterial infection, possibly brought on from chronic inflammation and/or toxicity. She had eaten some kind of plant and had a big stem piece in her stomach for at least 6 weeks. I think that started all this. Buddy has struggled with p-titis and that can spread inflammation to the intestines and up into the liver. This may have caused his intestines to not absorb nutrients and to not digest foods well.

Cami had made huge improvements in the last few months, gaining weight and NO tummy noises at all. I started adding three new products to my cats food in late August and I am sure one or more of them has been like a miracle cure. I had been adding digestive enzymes and salmon oil to their food and I changed to another brand of enzymes and switched the salmon oil for krill oil. And I added spirulina. I read about spirulina being a huge help in gently bringing the digestive track back to health in many species after illness or injury caused it stop functioning properly. All of my products are from Mercola Healthy Pets. Their krill oil comes in a pump container so is very easy to add (no snipping gel caps and squeezing out the oil). The enzymes contain actual pancreatic enzymes not plant enzymes. The spurlina (they call it Spirugreen Superfood) comes in a tablet that I crush with a mortar and pestle and add to the wet food. (I wish it came as a power because the tablets are huge and crushing them is a pain.)

Cami's kidneys were working overtime to clean up the bacterial infection and she was drinking tons of water and peeing gallons and was dehydrated, so she did need subQ fluids for several months. She no longer needs fluids, and no longer has PU/PD. Her kidney values are all normal now. Dehydration can elevate kidney values, so that is something to ask the vet about" was Buddy dehydrated when you brought him in?

I hope Buddy feels better soon.

Sheila -thanks for all this...I will order the products first thing in the morning and
start him on them right away.
Buddy gets subq fluids every day so he was not dehydrated when i brought him in.
will go get his bloodwork and post his values .
