Good Afternoon L, b, & L ~

Today, Bubba broke a poop strike mid morning. I am hoping that will bring down the AMPS's of late. Having a quiet house again might help too.

Vines to all Beans and Kitties in need.

OT:

Went down in the basement to get something out of the freezer and saw what looked like a 6 inch worm. Upon closer inspection, it was a baby snake!!! DH scooped it up and confirmed it. It was dead. But, I don't care......where there is one baby snake there is probably more and a big momma......so, where the heck did it come from???? I am quite skived out.

Ugh on the snake. Any chance Forrest brought in a prezzie for his brother?

Good job Bubba on giving up that poop.

I don't think so as we have 6 inches of snow on the ground and it's been really cold. And I let Forrest in and out and I would definelty see a baby snake hanging from his mouth. DH thinks it hibernated in and recently "woke" up. So, where is the rest of the snake family. Chills just thinking about it.

Yikes on the snake. I hope it's the only one and it got separated from its family. Yay for poop. Nice surfing for Bubba today.

I hope it's just a lone snake!
Glad Bubba gave up on the poop strike, on previous form you should see that reflected in his numbers.

Had a snake in our basement over the summer, but it was ALIVE !!!! I thought it was a stick or wire until it moved. It was poking its head around the shower (not enclosed). Husband thinks it slithered in from under the garage door and made its way along the wall. Like I care how it got there! Just make it gone.

If the snake was dead couldn't your Kitty have brought it in a while back before it got cold?

I had to laugh at everyone's reaction! When I was very young , 4 yrs old, I spent a lot of time alone in a prairie near our house.
My mom & dad both worked & the woman watching me didn't do a very good job.) I loved exploring & seeing the animals. Bunnies, mice ,an occasional raccoon.
But my favorite were the snakes. I'd turn over a board & find a nest of baby green snakes. I thought they were beautiful. Bright Lime green! I brought some of them home for pets! My mother was afraid of snakes & had a fit .I had to take them back to the prairie :arghh:

I grew up with the animals as my friends (even the snakes) When I tell someone I LOVE animals,I really mean it,all animals! ( I even put bugs & mice outside. Everything wants to Live not just us!) I would not be afraid to pick up a snake even now :)

You really do love all creatures, big and small.!

That snake is very pretty, but unfortunately, I can see it made into a very handsome watch band....... I. Do. Not. Like. Snakes.

Lots of snakes here. Cats caught a baby rat snake the other day. I took him out in the pasture and set him free.
This one was in my coop. Too big for me, so i had the neighbors son come get him and take him to the creek to live

This one was probably on his way to my coop or barn when the cats surrounded him...
Took him to the back of the pasture in a bucket.

Sharon, I need your cats to come for a visit and make sure my basement has no more snakes! What kind of snake was the big one?

That black one is way to big for me. Only good snakes are dead snakes.

Both are nonposoinous rat snakes. They help keep the poisonous ones away, so they are welcome. I had mice in the walls of my barn, cats couldn’t get to them. Then a king snake moved in and no more mice. He got tangled in some bird netting one morning and it took me an hour to cut him out, but he was unharmed and went back to work. I have always been afraid of snakes, but I’ve learned about all the good they do and have come to appreciate them!

I like snakes. They have an important role to play in Nature's plan. I'm sorry about your baby snake. It may have died last spring or summer, shortly after being born, and the freezing and thawing of the ground this winter somehow enabled it to wind up in your cellar. We had a similar thing happen several years ago when the spring thaw brought us a dead earthworm in a corner of our basement (a big NightCrawler).

Keep the kitties in the lagoon safe, Deputy Bubba!

I know you are right about the snakes. Sharon14 clued in me too of their importance but they still scare the bejesus out of me, even dead ones. My son the scientist, says that we are born inherently afraid of them as are most animals.
