Good evening L, B , & and L ~

Bubba is good except for a sneak of the forbidden chicken from Forrest again :banghead: I wish I could take the chicken and pork away Forrest ( Bubba's two offending allergens) but, Forrest won't eat eggs and salmon like Bubba is doing now so I am limited to what he will eat. Multiple cats, multiple health issues stink! LOL

OT: MOM She has improved some today in the eating department. Still very weak and can't walk. I got her a wheelchair yesterday and a portable commode. Her primary is in the process of setting up OT and PT again for her. Especially interested in OT to learn how to take care of her hygienic needs from a wheel chair. I strongly feel she had another small stroke. This is a game changer......

Ugh, so sorry to hear about your mom, I recall my ex mother-in law- having a series of TIA's repeatedly over an entire day. she was fine when we left for work and when I came home, she wasn't acting right, so we took her to the emergency room immediately and found out she had suffered multiple TIA's - (A transient ischemic attack (TIA) is a brief interruption of blood flow to part of the brain that causes temporary stroke-like symptoms. The risks for TIA are the same as for heart attack, stroke, and peripheral artery disease, and include smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and family history.) She recovered, but not completely, so we bought her a cell phone (many years ago) and we had three of us calling her at all different times of the day every day, to check on her speech and cognitive abilities until we found a nursing home that didn't have a waiting list.

It IS a lot of work, so make sure you find time to energize yourself if even a long soak in the tub, so you can have enough to give to your mom. It is physically and mentally exhausting, but worth it as she is your mom. You are a good person with a big heart, Bobbie, you give a lot, so just make sure you give back to yourself.

Carol, thank you so very much for this sweet message! It is very exhausting and worrisome. Mom has diabetes, and is in persistent AFIB and high cholesterol, and a previous heart attack, which makes her a higher risk for another stroke. I really feel that if I wasn't giving her a pharmaceutical grade Omega 3 daily she could have deteriorated much faster than her 91 years.

I do get out of Dodge twice a week with my SIL here that takes great care of Mom and the household ( animals ) in my absence . But, as you know, worry is something that is so hard to turn off. I am a work in progress. :rolleyes:

It is great to hear from you and I hope that you and Dante are well! From the looks at your SS, he is doing great! :bighug:
 
I'm glad Bubba is doing well. I hope the sneak of chicken doesn't cause a problem. I'm glad your mom's appy has improved. I hope she keeps improving and gets some strength back. Sending prayers.
 
Dropping by, catching up and reading about your mom...so sorry to hear of her health issues. You are a good daughter Bobbie. Yes, take care of yourself too...easier said than done, I know, but try.

Bubba's numbers look good! It's hard to be the lunchroom monitor! (as Linda says ;))

(((((Bobbie))))) it is a huge but wonderful job you are doing looking after your Mom. I know how hard it is emotionally and physically for a relative to look after someone with dementia ...... and to have the added worry of a possible stroke is enormous. I am glad your Mom is eating better. I hope the OT can help with suggestions on care.
I am glad your SIL can help you a couple of times a week.

Hmm, yes, we all thought my ex-MIL had a stroke as well; however, multiple TIA's were the culprit. Your mom has a lot on her plate to deal with, on her health issues, you are lucky to have her for so many years!

Your mom has great family support, and I don't think you would be human if you didn't worry! When my oldest son was 10 months old and at CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) for his open-heart surgery, my SIL would tell me repeatedly, "Let Go and Let God"- it doesn't mean we can't be human and worry, it means we can pray, as an angel is sent to us whenever we pray to strengthen us, reminding us that we are limited in our power to heal. Just the fact that she is not alone, Bobbie, you and your SIL are healing her spirit, and sometimes that is volumes more than what doctors can do! I am praying for your furry little ones and your entire family, take a breather once in a while - they will appreciate it!
