Good morning L & L ~

Another perfectly health poop in the LB this AM after breakfast. :cat: Today is day 3 without a hairball and or diarrhea. :) He ate his baby food turkey this morning without any need for flortiflora.

I started him on George's 100% aloe vera juice yesterday along with the SEB to help heal his intestinal tract. I am still giving him baby food and will do so through today and hopefully I can transition him back to raw food again........His +4 meal he wanted the flortiflora on it. Glad he ate because after wards he tested 67.

Vines to all Beans and Kitties in need. Thinking about are Florida friends and haven't forgotten about our Texas ones. :bighug:

I'm glad Bubba is on the road to recovery!!

Speaking of raw, how much do you make at a time for your 2 kitties and how do you store it? I'm getting my bag tomorrow so I hope to prep some this weekend. :) And I'm with ya about Food Fur Life being awesome!! :cat:

Wow! That's fantastic news! The SEB and George's Aloe seem to be doing the trick. Yay Bubba!

Fingers crossed. So, my next hurdle is to get him back on raw and then try chicken again but, first, I think raw turkey should be first ( poor guy must be sick of turkey by now ) I was suspecting that he was developing a sensitivity to chicken.

I usually gave a pound of raw in the fridge at a time. ( I am feeding 2 cats raw 6 X day.) We go through 10 ounces a day between the 2 boys.

I bought a digital kitchen scale from Amazon ( only about 25 bucks?) it measures in grams, ounces and pounds. ( I use it for my cooking all the time now, it's so handy, small and fits in my kitchen drawer. I measure 1 oz measures for Bubba and .70 ounce for Forrest. They each have their own glass Pyrex rectangle each with a different color lid (GREEN for Bubba, LOL ) I think glass is bet as plastic can scratch and hold odor.

According to Carolina yesterday, I should introduce a 3rd protein, they were only getting chicken and turkey. She also says that it's best to give one protein one meal and the next meal switch it and the next the 3rd protein. It is felt it helps them not to develop sensitivity to one protein. So, I will need to get my butcher to cut my pound packages in 1/2 ( I buy it frozen from him which is best that raw meat is frozen first before giving it to them so that all bad stuff is killed ) and put in the refrigerator 1/2 pound of each of the 3 proteins. I should be able to get through 1.5 lbs of raw meat in 2.4 days.

When I am ready to serve it I just scoop out each little patty for each cat and add the EZComplete water and any other supplements .

What company did you buy from? If you have a local butcher or a Whole Foods, you will save $$ buying it that way. I am using ground meat but, another tip from Carolina was to switch to chucks because they get tired of one consistency.

I feel slightly guilty for taking over your condo with this raw food discussion! :bookworm:

I use stainless steel food dishes. I recently bought a scale from Amazon for only $10 that does grams, ounces, and pounds. Do you warm up the meat in the glass dishes in the microwave or do you just use warm water while you mix in everything?

Thanks for all the information Carolina gave you about the 3 proteins and rotating them. I don't know how well that would go over with Keena. :nailbiting: He is still occasionally vomiting (meaning 1x this week versus 2x last week), even though I have a tiny amount of raw chicken mixed in with the canned food. Perhaps I should have a discussion about that with the company. I bought the EZ Complete from Food Fur Life. I already found a meat market so I will do more investigating about their proteins.

Did Carolina recommend a 3rd protein for you to add in with the chicken and turkey?

Carolina and Laurie run a FB page called Raw Feeding for IBD Cats. Lots of good tips for raw feeding and a lot of people use EZC on it. Carolina is very responsive on it. But foodfurrlife site also has meat buying and storage info, how to make single meals and batches, protein suggestions, how to transition etc. I've followed their guidelines and had 100% success transitioning my two within 6 weeks. I can't say enough good things about them and their products.

Thank you, Susan! I just asked to join that FB group. I've heard of that group many, many times so maybe it's time I join. :joyful: I will have to go back to the website and re-read everything. There is so much information, I can't remember it all.

I hear ya. That's why I love the FB page...quick question gets a quick and usually spot on answer.

No guilt! This helps all of us who are feeding raw and it's great to brain storm.

Does Keena do okay with canned chicken? The reason I asked is because I read somewhere? that sometimes a cat can have an issue like vomiting with a canned protein but, might not have that same issue with raw. It might be a very good question to talk to Carolina about.

Yes, she said pork which I know all ready that Bubba loves because that is the first ingredient in the YA, chicken is the second ingredient. I am anxious to try the port with him. I have a feeling it will go over great. Were you around when I caught Bubba up on the stove licking bacon grease out of the fry pan? Thank God it was cool.

PM = 91. Nice run today. Still no diarrhea

and today he made it clear that he had it with turkey and baby food.

Yesterday, when I talked to Carolina from Food4Life, she suggested giving chucked food instead of the ground that I had been giving. Cats get tired of one texture and perhaps that could jump start him again. The more I thought about it, it made total sense. I was not convinced that his refusal to eat the ground raw chicken and turkey was nausea as he would scarf down the 1 tbsp. of YA I give him at 2 AM.

Tonight, I gave him 1 oz of chucked chicken. I need to see if the chicken is a sensitivity or not so this will be a good test. He was a bit tentative at first as I had added EZcomplete. When I took a raw piece out of the fridge without any EZ complete on it, he went for it. Then I took the pieces out of the gravy and put onto another plate and he ate it up! Almost like watching him when he eats a mouse. Each piece he took off the plate and shook it! Very funny to watch. Messy! But, my dilemena now is to get him to lap up the EZcomplete gravy. Carolina feels that since he had a few upchucks with the ground and EZcomplete that he is a bit squeamish with it now. Flashback.....LOL

I had to transition Keena slowly onto all canned food or he would vomit. I will have to do it again with raw. I let the cats sniff the baggie with the prepped raw food and Keena stayed on the other side of the kitchen while the 3 cats tried to shove their faces into the baggie.

I must have missed that about Bubba licking the bacon grease. What a hoot! All my cats love any pork so maybe I should start with that first.
