Good Morning L & L ~

Looks like the dose crease to 1 unit last night is helping. It was a bit scary raising him while he is off his feed. He continues to want to eat the baby food turkey and YA dry. I am thankful he'll eat the baby food so I can get the SEB syrup and Florastor ( S. Boulardii probiotics ) into him.

Last night at 12 midnight I was awoken with him hacking up another hairball. They are coming on much to close together which concerns me a lot for his GI system. Hoping we can get things to calm down for him.

Vines to all Beans and Kitties in need.

Sorry that Bubba is a little off. Maybe if he gets that hairball out he may feel up to eating his regular food again.

Sending tummy vines to the little guy vibes.gif :cat:

Many feel-better vines for Bubba....my civvie, Zen, is also on a hairball run. Maybe because it's end of summer and shedding has built up a bit in their bellies??
I hope that it all it is, Amy. The concern is he is off his feed and won't eat his usual raw food. I am thinking he has developed an aversion to it........hope that after being on baby food for a bit, he will turn around. sigh.....

Hope Zen is still on his feed. :bighug:

I hope his tummy will settle down soon. Walter is also battling hairball issues. I wonder why it's him that always gets hairball even though it's Mandarin that grooms everyone.

Sending tummy settling/appy vines. :bighug: Has Bubba ever had an ultrasound of his bowels? Kitties shouldn't be vomiting very often at all. It was the sign of something more for my civie.

Is there anything we can give them for hairballs that's allowed with sugar kitties (cat grass)? Hope he feels better soon.

Yes, he had one in Jan 2015. I believe that is when it was said that he most likely had some IBS. It was done at the former vet and I will have to call and see what the report said. I remembering feeling like we were in the clear after the US was preformed as far as anything chronic or bad.

That's my Forest, the resident hair dresser. I even caught him grooming Miss Lucy Lu! And she let him. And I don't remember Forest having issues with hairballs. Go figure.

So sorry to hear Bubbas belly is still upset. That link I gave you was done by two women with IBD kitties. Hence the raw, egg yolk, SEB grule, probiotics, etc. When Jimmy had a bad constipation episode he immediately threw up instead. Had to come out one way or the other. He had never vomited before. Ever. He's around 11. That's when I started giving him the pinch of dried egg yolk. I swear by it now.

When you try raw feeding again perhaps try a novel protein so he doesn't associate it with upset tummy feelings.

Feel better Bubba. :bighug:

That's a good idea. Any ideas? He was eating turkey and chicken. I might be able to get venison from my butcher and not sure what else. Duck is fatty and I read the leaner the better with IBS issues.
This is from foodfurrlife website: Start a bland diet. Don't try and feed her normal raw diet.
The bland diet removes any possible dietary sources of upset, and is very easy for your cat to digest. Use the (unenhanced) chicken or turkey breast or pork loin (trimmed of excess fat) to make a bland, simple, low-fat food. Poach the meat in enough water to cook the meat and make a bit of broth. When cooked, either shred the meat, cut or chop it finely, or put it in a food processor or blender with the water used to poach it.

Perhaps try the pork loin. Or give him a different cut of the chicken or thigh. Also - do you know about Slippery Elm Bark? That is good to use in conjunction with the S. Boul.

"While the S boulardii alone will likely resolve the diarrhea in your cat, if kitty is in discomfort, if there is some blood and/or mucus in the stool, or if kitty is nauseous, slippery elm should be given to your kitty along with the plain diet and S boulardii. The can be given concurrently. SEB both manages nausea and is very soothing and healing to the entire GI tract. This also details why we prefer using slippery elm bark powder over pumpkin when managing diarrhea in our cats."

I do use SEB syrup and I have been separating the use of the SEB and then the next feeding I put in the S. Bou but, this is saying I can use together.....good to know! I have been adding the EZ Complete to the baby food but I think I will stop that for a day or so because he seemed to eat it better without it and a few days without those supplements won't kill him.

He escaped yesterday and was like a lightening bolt going through the yard. Fortunatlely, I got him back inside. He is so depressed being cooped up inside. Poor boy....

Follow their directions...start with a pinch to check for tolerance. Then increase as needed. But key for the diarrhea is prob going to be the S Boul along with slippery elm.
Maybe I will wait until no further diarrhea. He did go 5 days without an episode and I thought he had turned the corner until yesterday.....

I keep thinking he is turning the corner or I would have had him seen. Hoping we are getting there.

Thanks for all your great suggestions. I really appreciate it! :bighug:

(((Bobbie))), I've missed a few days and am so sorry to hear that Bubba is having stomach/hairball/poop issues. I hope you can figure out the cause soon. I agree that a trip to the vettybean might be a good idea. Has Bubba lost weight recently? Stu lost weight, overgroomed, and had hairball after hairball. He was the hairball king. It was Hyper-T. Maybe have Bubba tested.

Sending lots of feel better vines. Maybe a diet of fresh mouse is what Bubba needs:cat:

Bobbie I am sorry poor Bubba is not feeling well. Have you been to the Food Fur life website? They have some good info for kitties. If you click on cats the drop down box for Feline health care first drop down box for hairballs it might be worth reading. You might already know this.:bighug::bighug::bighug::kiss::kiss::kiss: to you & Bubba.
