Good Morning L & L ~

Today must be puke day. Civvie, Forrest scarfed and barfed and then 30 minutes after eating Bubba started doing that primal gut wrenching cry and threw up all of brekkie along with quarter size hairball. I am still waiting for the Egg Yolk powder from FoodFurLife and it can't come fast enough!!

Did manage to get some more food into Bubba but he wanted nothing to do with raw so I gave him YA dry. What's a mother to do??

Vine to all Beans and Kitties in need.

:eek:Oh no! Hope the kitties feel better

Tanya's site talks about SEB as a daily treatment (or every other day) for CKD kitties.

I agree. I have looked through my notes and links and don't find anything on limiting usage, though I do vaguely remember something like what you said - but what I think was that it may loose effectiveness with continued usage. Since I am getting regular LB deposits I am continuing MMR (alternative to SEB).

In looking back through my links I found this one that talked about hairballs.

Along with SEB it speaks about psyllium husks (fiber) for hairballs.

I hate hearing that liquid retching sound! I used to have a cat that would run if he saw me coming when he made that sound. The result: a long trail of vomit instead of a contained blob. I learned to stay put when I heard that sound.
I am sitting here laughing because, I haven't learned that yet. LOL
I struggle with that. I always try and grab the cat and run him to the kitchen - the only room with no carpet!! Sometimes it works and sometimes I have quite a bit to scrub.

Thanks fore the link. I might try every other day and see how that goes. The problem is that with giving him AVJ and I will be starting the egg yolk , I won't know what is helping. But then, I might save the SEB for my emergency go to if he gets diarrhea . sigh.

How much AVJ do you give each time? He drinks it up no problem?
Yes, no detection of it at all. Got to get the George's brand because it is fractionally distilled and all bitter stuff is removed. One site I found said to give 1 tbsp. a day to cats and small dogs. I split it up and put 1/2 tbsp. in AM meal and a 1/2 tbsp. in the PM meal. I am taking it also and my gut is better.

I also take it, maybe it will help Bronx's constipation issues? I use Lily of the Desert AVJ

Is the Lilly's fractionally distilled? I under stand that is important. It is suppose to help with constipation and since Bubba has been on in it, regular deposits. :cat: Now, I just need to get the hairball thing remedied.

How much do you take ? The George's RX for adults is 2 ounces a day.

Really? Does it have restrictions like SEB (No other meds/supplements within 2 hrs)?
The Foodfurlife site ( Carolina) had me giving him a mixture of SEB and AVJ mixed together to help with nausea. Below is the recipe:

George’s Aloe Vera Gel ½ tsp mix with ¼ tsp of Slippery Elm Bark SEB make a paste, roll it into a ball and put on the roof of the mouth 30 minutes before meal time. Will help with naseaua and GI inflammation.

I could not get it into the roof of his mouth if I wanted my fingers.......So I just mixed both into his food together for a few cycles and then he seemed fine and I stopped the SEB. I have continued the AVJ.

ETA: The great thing about the AVJ, is it is totally undetectable; it is like water!

Can you post a link to which you are giving? There are several on Amazon. I would like to get away from the MMR (on a regular basis) because of the restrictions. It makes giving anything else difficult.

Did you get a turkey?

Did you get a turkey?
I got two huge turkey legs and thighs, two of them were over 5 lbs. I got the tighs all cut up and portioned into the freezer ( always want to freeze raw food for at least 24 hours to kill stuff like toxoplasmosis) and tomorrow I will tackle the legs ( need a tutorial on butchering, LOL )

I took one off of Amazon, 1 gallon was around 25 bucks. It will last a long time if you just give it to Gizmo ( I am taking 2 oz. / day also)

@LizzieInTexas , BTW, I did not put Bubba back on the Glucose Ensure or the Pancreas Booster so far. When you suggested me to take him off it while doing the SEB and S.Boularrdi, I did and haven't returned. Right now it is just the George's AVJ. Hoping the egg yolk powder arrives tomorrow and I will start that for the hairball issue.

So do you grind it or just chunk it?

Does it need to be refrigerated?

I am chunking everything now. At first, they were getting ground turkey and ground chicken. When Bubba had his recent diarrhea and upchucking and hairballs, I thought he was getting an aversion to raw food. Carolina from FoodFurLife said it is most likely nausea and suggested the SEB/ AVJ mixture in the post above. And she said some kitties just get tired of one texture and to try the chunks. I did the SEB/ AVJ first and then I started on the chunks and also added pork to the mix ( slowly ) so he has 3 proteins in rotation. He started eating with gusto again. I think the combo of the two things helped him a lot. But after this AM hairball, I realize we still have that issue to deal with. The other diarrhea and throwing up I believe was an IBS flair up. He seems to get one about every 6-9 months.

Does it need to be refrigerated?
No, it does not which is great! It can sit out.
