Bubba 5/7 268 Unhappy Birthday

Happy Birthday Bubba! Hope pain med works so you can enjoys all your cakes.

To cut Olive's benazepril into 4, I use bird nail clippers (it's like a scissor), vets office said it was the easiest way. The pills are super tiny. Not all pieces are exact but close enough.

We were sent home with 6 syringes of Bup and 1 mirtazaphine to split into 8's . Geez, not easy splitting an oval pill into 8 equal parts. I gave his first Bup and will see if that helps him to want to eat once the pain has subsided. The mirtz will be my Ace in the Hole.

They ought to fit you in. It explains the high bg though. I’ve split pills into eighths before. :eek: You don’t have to be perfectly exact with mirt. I’d give less than more though. Not sure if Bibba has had it before but less us often better has been my experience.

I’m glad you have the answer and it’s fixable. Hope they get Bubba in soon and in the meantime the meds work.

Sorry it's another dental in the offing. I really liked going to the dental specialist.

Can you see if you can get transdermal mirtazapine? Less side effects and less worry about dividing up tiny pills.

Good to know. I am so hoping they will get him in ASAP. Momma has been a squeaky wheel tonight and I am waiting for a call back tomorrow.

Whew, at least you know what is happening, now it's time for surgery, ugh, the wait kills ya'- good stuff Bobbie! Hang in there Bubba, your momma's pullin' for ya!
 
As usual, I'm late to the party. Happy birthday, Bubba. I hope the Bupe helped you to feel better.

If you can't get the Mirtz patch, what about getting it compounded into a smaller dose capsule? That's what I did with Cerenia - got tired of trying to cut it into fourths.

Sending load and loads of healing vines, and hopes that some vet will get him in for treatment ASAP.

Where did you get the Cerenia compounded? I tried 2 pet pharmacies and one local compounding (human) pharmacy. The one local compounding pharmacy said they might be able to do it if I brought the pills to them. Cost to compound was $50-75 :eek:

At a compounding pharmacy in Davis, California. I've been using him for several years, for me and the cats. It was $52 for 16 capsules, so I'd say the quotes you're getting are right on.
