When the tail hits the kennel walls all the time, the very tip of it splits open. It’s usually dogs with long, skinny tails. And even though it sounds ridiculous, it’s difficult to get it to heal in a shelter environment. Bandages don’t stay on there and you can’t exactly keep a dog from wagging their tail.
