Wow, thought I gave a fur shot this a.m. (must have been a bit left hanging on to the needle that got on his fur) because I came home to a +9 51! Tested again to be sure and +9 55! :-D He's drinking a lot of water though (?)

There was food left in his dish, so I don't think he went too low..

I'll post his pmps number

-Wendy

Edited: I should have known the test was wrong! I grabbed my One Touch and dangit +9.5=442!

I guess I did give a furshot this a.m. No wonder he's drinking lots of water

well- THAT is really weird! I posted ot you a few hours ago and the post is GONE.

What I asked was, are you using two different meters?

It reads like one meter gave you two readings in the 50's, then a half hour later you got a different meter and go the 400...

It is best to stick with ONE meter.

Which meter did you get all the other readings you have? How do you know which of the two meters to trust?

Or do I just misunderstand altogether and you have only one meter? :?:

two meters.

This batch of strips for my Reli-on have been throwing errors. I've had to do two tests several times. But when it gave me 2 low numbers in a row, I thought the number was right. I tested 30 minutes later with my backup OTU and got a 400+ which made more sense as he was drinking so much water. I know to only use one meter, but if I'm having problems with the strips, I had no choice but to switch.

They are sending me a replacement batch of strips and new meter.

Here's a question: how do you know which meter is correct? The Relion is supposed to be very accurate (according to Consumer Reports). have you tested yourself with both?

I know how you feel though. I switched meters this past spring because the meter I had been using, the strips suddenly went way up in cost. I got a newer meter from same company and loved it (the way it operated, the special functions, etc.), but then I started questioning the results and testing on myself and comparing it to the old meter and a spare of the same model and I found I just could not trust it. I tested myself and I was 92, 93, 63. The 63 was the new meter. I had a Contour that I got for free to send in for the newbie kits so I opened that and compared that to the others. It was very close to my old meter so that is what I stuck with and I get strips on eBay.

He's drinking waaaay too much water to be in double digits! When he's over 400, he's can't leave the water dish alone.

the high numbers on the OTU make sense.

hey Wendy,

Maybe try control solution for both meters and test a civvie in the house, or yourself to see which of the meters can be trusted.

FYI- The ReliOn MICRO is fabulous! Cheap, tiny blood spot, and has been accurate for me with only error when I do something stupid, like hit the blood spot twice or drop the meter after getting the bood.

Let us know what you figure out with the meters!
