Bouncy BG? Or dose just not working?

Moved Jones up to 2units Lantus several cycles ago, and it hasn't seemed to make much of a difference yet. Or, is he just bouncing around? I'm wondering whether to hold the dose and see if he settles into it, or go ahead and raise him again. The other thing is, I'm so nervous about raising his dose and not being around to test on a work day. I'd sort of like to only do increases on weekends from here on out - will I impede his progress by going more slowly than the TR protocol dictates?

I don't really see any bouncing...what I see is that you just haven't reached a good dose for Jones yet

I'd suggest going on up to 2.25

Did anything different happen on 10/31? That is the only day that show a significant decrease in BG after the shot.
Otherwise your SS shows that an increase in dose is in order.

The night before, he had 1/4 can of his W/D switched out with FF. Other than that, nothing strange. None of the incremental food changes after that dropped him so low. I think he just threw that in so that's I'd be a little extra nervous every time I raise his dose.

W/D canned is way too high in carbs for a diabetic cat...it's about 25% carbs. That's probably why you're not seeing good action with the Lantus because the food is likely keeping his BG high. I would highly recommend transitioning off this food (you can return unopened cans to your vet for a refund). Just keep in mind that you'll likely need to lower his dose once you have him switched to a low carb food like Fancy Feast, so you'll want to be testing and lowering his dose as needed.

Good luck! the fact that he had such a drop just by switching out some of the W/D is very positive! Just make sure you're lowering that dose as you're getting rid of the W/D.

No, Jones has been off the W/D - Larry was just asking if anything might have caused the drop back on 10/31. We were working on the food transition then, and it seems it might have been due to just 1/4 can reduction in W/D - which does just go to show how high carb it is!

Oh, OK! Looks like you got some good action today, I hope it keeps up! Don't be surprised if his BG is high for a few days after today, but it looks like the 2u is working.
