I transitioned Toby to a wet food only diet yesterday and got some much better numbers post-shot. However, he was the highest he's been in weeks this morning. Is it possible that this is a bounce? He's normally in the 200s, but he was in the 100s for several hours yesterday. I've reduced his Vetsulin to 1 unit until I can tell how it will affect him when he only has access to wet food. Does this seem to be the correct dose?
Unfortunately, there are 3 instances this week where I will be working late and will not be home to administer his PM shot (it's usually only once a week). I feel bad about not having the kind of consistency he needs, but my work schedule is what it is. Will this increase his chances of bouncing?
Also, I had a question about the amount of food he should be eating. I think he needs a least 180 calories a day - he's currently 16 lbs (down from 19) and is a large-framed cat. Right now, he's only eating 2 cans of 3 oz. Fancy Feast pates a day - one throughout the day and one over night. He should be eating closer to 3 cans, correct?
