Boots - Setting up autofeeder

Hi All,

Boots woke up with a nice, low number this morning! She is creeping up this afternoon, but we made the switch to all low carb wet and freeze dried chicken snacks and I'm hopeful she'll stabilize.
I got the PetSafe autofeeder and am setting up snacks for her for tomorrow. I'm planning to feed every 3 hours (fed breakfast at 6, snacks at 9, 12, and 3, fed dinner between 6 - 7). How much wet food should I leave for each snack? She typically gets 1.5 - 2 cans of FF per meal.i know it's important that she eat, but I also don't want to start overfeeding her. She WILL scarf up whatever is put down immediately (thus no free-feeding here) and she will also likely share a little with her sister (reluctantly).

Thanks!

You may want to experiment during the day today to see if Boots figures out what the auto feeder is all about. Some cats are a bit suspicious at first.

If your kitty is OK with the auto feeder, I would suggest giving a reasonable sized breakfast and then splitting the food up over the next several hours. You don't want to increase the amount of food, unless Boots lost a good deal of weight or needs to add weight. Rather, the idea is to feed the same amount just spread out the way you would spread out food if you were home to fill the dish.

Put down the same amount divided into the compartments.

The first compartment which is the open space would have the breakfast (I don't program breakfast since I'm home to feed). Then the other compartments hold the 9, 12, 3 feedings.
