Hi all in L&L Land!

So after our scare the other week (4/29's low numbers), we've been trying to settle back in, but things are a little out of whack with our Boots. Now mind you, he's still not getting totally crazy readings, with sky high numbers and super lows (at least not that we're catching in our checks), but he isn't as reliable as he used to be (the last go-round when he went OTJ for a few months in 2016). We found often repeated patterns in his cycles then, but not so much this time around. He seems a little more variable - some days, lows around +5, others, lows at +3, etc.

Because we both work full time outside the home, the only time we're able to do really full curves (8am - 2am, so 18 hours or so) is on the weekend (Saturday AMPS through til we pass out at night!). We're going to try to do more full curve days on Saturdays coming up, to see if we can spot patterns, but if you check his SS lately, it's just a mess of randomness, so it seems.

The other factor that might play into this is that we've been a little inconsistent with his dose, in large part because we have been panicking when he has a low-ish reading and we can't be around to monitor (see 5/8 AM and tonight's PM dose). Yesterday morning I actually ducked out of work at +3 because I was paranoid, and I really can't be doing that often (y'know - if I'd like to keep my job - and that job does help pay for the insulin, after all! ;)).

Any advice? Like I said, we're going to try to do more regular curves to see if we can re-establish some patterns, but he's just been so all over the place recently, and it's throwing us for a loop. Nights are hard (I am MEGA cranky without enough sleep). Of course, we'll set an alarm and get up to check him if we need to, but lately I don't even feel confident knowing when we need to, because I am not even sure when he'll hit his lows anymore. Do I just need more curves to try to get a better sense of his cycles, if they have maybe changed a bit (since last time, or just recently)?

Going to go sneak in a +3 now before (hopefully) heading to bed.

Hope all are having a good evening! :cat:

Well, his numbers are looking really good! If you could just get the AMPS down a bit, you'd be looking at earning reductions based on a week in normal numbers! It looks like tonight he's proving one of our favorite sayings: shoot low to stay low! I understand why you did a BCS, but FYI, small ones like that don't usually make much of a difference, because the depot just makes up the deficit and he more or less still gets the same amount of insulin. I don't think he's going to do anything exciting tonight (anti-jinx).

I don't know if a full curve is needed, but maybe getting some later cycle numbers this weekend would help fill in the picture better, since that's when you are normally unable to test. Let's see what others think.

@Tricia Cinco(GA) & Harvey - thanks. They really are still good numbers overall, it's just two things different from our experience in 2016 (when we absolutely had steady week-after-week of solid green numbers to warrant the slide down to OTJ) - his nadir is a moving target, and we can't seem to shake those morning blues (thankfully, low blues normally). And then that sharp (for him) drop to the 30s the other weekend - at a +3 no less! - has really thrown us for a loop so that we feel like we have lost our confidence in knowing what he's going to do on any given cycle (which causes more BCS dosing, which I'm sure isn't helping keep him more evenly regulated. Vicious cycle!

I think we'll grab some +1-4 readings, and some +6-11 readings this weekend as we are able, since we routinely get stuff mid-cycle already but rarely get those other readings. See if that tells us anything, I guess.
