Boots had a tough day on Sunday keeping down his food so I had to mix in some dry food. Today is better, I gave him less wet but he is keeping it down. These are his results for the past 24 hours. I give him 5 units, twice a day.
4/11
amps 275
+3 281
+6 161
pmps 156
+3 251
4/12
amps 365
+3 328
I'll keep him on wet food only and hope the numbers get lower. Any suggestions? You're help and insight is greatly appreciated.

Hang in there! Just here to bump you up and give support. I gets better, really it does. someone who knows more will be along soon.

Those are not bad numbers for a cat just starting out--5 units, how did you come to this amount?? Vet?
Try mixing the wet with a little dry & then feed less & less of the dry till Boots is used to the wet only..The dry is driving the numbers up also, so when he is off it completely, the numbers will go down significantly..
When you post, please write--4/10 Boots AMPS (add number), +3~(add number)etc, so we have a running record of where he is going during a day--
He had 2 nice blue numbers yesterday--Pretty good!
Was he throwing up? Have you read the stickys on the main page above--They are very helpful..
I think you are off to a good start--Not sure about the dose--As I dont know your history, cant give much advice-
We are here to help..

Wow - 5 u is a lot for most kitties. We really, really need to see a spreadsheet. I saw that you had tried a profile...the spreadsheet is actually easier. We need to understand when and how you arrived at your current dose. Also, you can actually create the profile directly in GoogleDocs, w/o using the "Coolification" thing. The GoogleDocs wordprocessor is very similar to Word.

Do hang in there. It's hard at first, but diabetes is very managable. Once you get over the learning curve, it takes very little time.

Liz - does Boots have any other medical issues? Does he normally throw up? Did I read correctly the other day that he is inside with 17 other cats? Or are some out and some in?
