Hello... just an update on my Boo Boo. She was diagnose diabetic about 2 weeks ago. I went to the vet and asked to see her blood work and she had a BG level at the time of testing of 389. She also ahd a urinary tract infection and was put on antibiotic. We switched her diet to Fancy Feast Classic ( thanks for the tip!) and have given her lots of TLC and as of today her BG was 214. We haven't started insulin yet because of the response with antibiotic, diet change, and we seperated her from her brothers and sisters to help reduce her stress. Had a hard time trying to get blood from her ear... but with practice we'll get better. You were right, she doesn't seem to mind... it stressed me out more than her. she just purred as we pet her. With her decrease in BG... should i continue to hold off on the insulin? I'd love your input! Thanks!

If she were mine, I would keep feeding the low carb and monitoring. We suggest new diabetics not get shots under 200 so she is right in that range. You might get lucky and with the new diet and the infection going away, she could become a diet controlled diabetic.

If she starts to go up and is in the 200+ range consistently instead of trending down, then I'd consider some tiny doses of insulin.
