Boo and stopping dry food questions

Since I am going to be stopping Boo's dry food, is feeding 1 can of FF classic enough twice a day or should I leave a can out for free feed just in case. I do have another cat that may eat that food but just don't know.

What weight is he? We can work out how much he needs.

Is there an issue with the other cat eating it? I like free feeding as they can munch through the day to keep their BG stable.

Boo weighed at the vets office was 16.3lbs. At one time, years before being diagnosed he weighed 18lbs at the vets and when diagnosed 5/11/2013 he weighed 9.7lbs. weight 7/6 was 14.8, 7/20 was 15.4 and 8/17 was 16.3

Sorry I should have asked - what would you consider his ideal weight? Heres a calculation.

Required calories per day = [13.6 X ideal weight in lbs] + 70

FF is about 85 calories a can.
