Yeah, so I brought Bob to the vet today because he wasn't eating the past few days. Thought it was "teeth" causing the problem. Nope. The sugars are back it would appear. Along with the low potassium. Just like last time, only without the DKA nightmare (anti-jinx).

I tested him just before leaving the house. Twice. 382 in one ear and 385 in the other. Vet got a 522 on her AT, so it looks like my meter still works...

Suspected culprit.... P-titis. Pain meds, ABs, syringe feeding and sub-q fluids on the agenda for the next three days. Then Tuesday his compounded PZI is supposed to arrive overnight UPS. Hopefully by then he's eating better, in less pain, and better hydrated. Then it's 1u bid and see what happens.

Neither of us can say we've missed the routine. But at least we know it already.

This pretty much sucks.

Brightside? You know me, there's always one if I look hard enough....
I already started a spreadsheet, something I'd never done before for Bob. ;-)

Well, $&@#. I'm sorry, Carl. But you have such a huge advantage since you have mountains of experience and can be as aggressive as you want. The numbers aren't awful and you should be able to get them down in no time. And a spreadsheet no less!

Welcome back :YMHUG:

Awwww Carl! That pretty much sucks big time, but as the others said, at least you have a wealth of knowledge and know that you have our support and camaraderie. Bob may fool you and go into remission before you can fill that second or third syringe. Hoping that is the case or at least that it happens again for you.

Hello Carl,
just repeating Sue's coded four letters! Sorry, but Bob is one lucky cat to have you in his life & vice versa.

Can you share where you're getting the PZI, as well as, the cost? I have some Levemir flexpens in the fridge expiring in Sept. 2014, but I want to be ready since time passes at the speed of light at my age. I am anxious using Levemir because of the possibility of prolonged hypos & believe firmly in using insulin even before an appointment with a vet. My Pudge seems to suffer from intermittent infections or picks up a bug/virus when he stops eating. He appears to fight it off by himself & vet visits show nothing.
Best wishes, Sophie

Sophie,
The compounded PZI is from BCP pharmacies in Texas. The cost was $48, plus $12 for shipping. That is for a 10ml vial, which at low doses would last three months at least.. My vet called them and gave them the prescription info, then handed me the phone to give them shipping info and payment. It took minutes. They ship overnight, but since it was late Friday, it won't ship until Monday. But a vet needs to call in the 'scrip before you can order it.

Sorry to hear this, Carl. Sounds like the vet got you fixed up with what you need to treat.

Jeepers Cats....Bob is being a boldy. He just wants to give you a hands-on test, Carl. Bet he goes OTJ again real real soon.

Will be following your sugardance. ;-)

Hi Carl
I'm sorry to hear about Bob. I hope he feels better real soon...and those BG's come down for you. He is lucky to have you!

Carl,

Sorry to hear that the p-titis has Bob back on the juice. Hoping this smiley cheers you up and Bob is feeling better very, very soon.

Sending healing and get well vines to Bob.

Thank you, all of you!

Not much news. The pzi is supposed to arrive tomorrow afternoon. Bob is staying in the stinky pinkys, so not terrible for now.
He has very little appetite, and I am having to syringe feed to avoid liver problems. Last thing we want is ketones or fatty liver.
Giving him fluids daily.
Scared me because he hadn't pooped in three days but today while I was at work he left me a prezzie in the LB. dehydration plus little apply equals no poop...
He's getting bupe 2x per day and clavamox as well.

Assuming he's not cured by this time tomorrow he'll be getting 1u for starters. And I am off the following four days so I'll be able to keep a close eye on him.

Hoping Bob (and you) feel better soon. Poor baby...no fun being sick and in the "stinky pinkies" so hoping that he feels better really soon so you can bring that BG down to a nice green number!

Carl I was always so jealous Bob went off the juice so fast BUT I'm past that! I hope you turn this
around quickly again. Of course you could have Payne ohmygod_smile 10u a day and loving it!
Sending good vibes!
Nancy

Just popping in to see how you guys were doing. Glad you got a poop.. Is he feeling any better? How are the 5ps aside his poor appetite?
