the heartbreaking news is that Blue went into cardiac arrest coming out of anesthesia for his CT scan. I arrived while they were giving him CPR and after awhile, I told them to let him go.
I’m heartbroken. I just feel sick.

Oh no, Jodey, I am so sorry for the decision you had to make. You gave him the best possible circumstances, all the love and care any cat could have wanted. My heart is breaking for you and I'm crying with you. Tonight when we look into the skies, we will see the newest, brightest star, that will be your sweet boy Blue.

Fly free sweetie, and land softly at the Rainbow Bridge. You were so loved.

Our poor acro kitties are so complex and the disease is so sneaky in how it manifests. I’m so sorry.

It’s going to be a long, painful, lonely drive home. Please, please be careful. I’ll be thinking of you. Let us know that you get back safely. :bighug::bighug::bighug:(We really need a frowny-face hug)

My heart is broken. Just broken. I drove home from Calgary and the closer I got to home, the worse I felt because I knew what it would mean to go into the house without Blue.

I have to turn towards care for Eddie but it's dreadful to see the two bowls and use only one. To lay out the one syringe instead of two. To not be giving Blue his compounded medications: he loved them.

thank you everyone for your kind words and support. Blue was such a good, good boy. We've been on this journey together since 2017 and now I feel as if one of my arms or legs is missing. I also have some trauma from being in the ICU and in the midst of about six people all doing various tasks to support the actual CPR, which was distressing to say the very least. I was holding Blue's feet and they were cold. They kept trying with his heart and it would beat but not enough to sustain life. That's when I told them to stop and let him go and I held him when they injected the euthanol or whatever it was to send him on his way. I just keep crying.

I have been so close to Blue as caregiver for nearly 7 years and I feel like one of my limbs is missing.

I'm glad you made it home safely. That must have been such a horrible long drive. :bighug: Take care of yourself too, this will be a very tough time. Try to remember the good times. 6 years with acromegaly is a long time - and it sounds like most of it was good quality of life. Our acros take up so much room in our hearts.

Thanks, Wendy. I also have to say Eddie seems as disoriented as I am.
 
:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: Jodey I know how you feel Tyler had a brother named Perry who I had to let go due to kidney disease on 10-6-2019. I felt the same way you do.
He was my heart kitty. As I have said you took so good care of Blue and he knew how much you loved him. In time I hope you can remember all the good times you had with Blue.
I'm sure Eddie misses Blue too,

OMG, thank you. That brought tears to my eyes about the Rainbow Bridge because with Blue I really believe this to be true.

Hi Diane, thank you so much. More and more I'm realizing that Blue was the heart kitty of me and the entire house. He taught me so much.
