I don't even know what to say. I'm so confused by this wide range of numbers. Just when I thought he should go back to .5 he gets low on .25. :arghh:

I don’t think a different insulin is needed. Some cats are just bouncy. I also think the right amount of carbs to slow him down and not bring him up too fast has not been determined. Do you feed at +1 and +2?

There is a drop already so he is breaking the bounce probably.

No, I only feed AMPS and give him insulin. He doesn't eat again until +5.5 - 6 unless he goes low.

Well he's definitely not hanging around in the high numbers as long as he used to, Patty. At the rate he's going I wonder whether tonight might be a busy cycle. I'd suggest grabbing a nap if you can, just in case he might need close monitoring.

Sorry I've not been around much today. Have been keeping an eye on Blue's numbers but I had my carer in earlier and I'm reeling a bit from all the poorly kitties on the board at the moment. Fatigue's really bad today.

On a more positive note, the Noodle was brighter and more active this morning. Sleeping at the moment (snuggled under her fleecy blanket on the sofa).

How are you doing today, Patty, and how is Blue?

    Hi Mogs,
I'm sorry you are so fatigued :( but I'm happy little Noddle bug is feeling better. It's hard on us when they're feeling bad. Love when they snuggle in a warm fuzzy blanket. Boards must be busy. I did see several newbies and some terrible problems people are having with their furs. Make me feel grateful Blue is as well as he is.

Too late for a nap now. Preparing dinner and tonight I go downstairs to watch TV with my mom. She likes me to come down for some shows she likes such as Bachelorette and she also likes Dancing with the Stars. I could do without both, but she's 95 and I take every opportunity to do things with her. I run up and down checking on Blue. LOL

Blue and I are okay. He hasn't been that cooperative today when I try to test him. He's been a little whiny. I have to admit I've been a little frustrated today with his wide range in BG numbers. I just wonder if this normal. I'm still holding out hope that once he's off the antibiotic he'll be a bit more regulated. At least that's my hope. Yesterday he was going low but he was high on either end of the cycle. I just don't understand how this is going to resolve. I'm just worried.

Have you ever tried a few teaspoons of lc at +1-+4 to slow him down?

No. He hasn't had that many days that he's low. I'm always shocked when he tests below 100. Maybe if we increase to .5 and we know he'll get low, I could try that. At .25 he hasn't been in the green except the first day.

That might be worth trying with .50 if he needs to go up.

You think we're ready to go back to .50 or should we see what he does tonight?

See tonight’s plan as the bounce isn’t done I think. Any plans tomorrow?
With Max I fed him at +2 and if dropping +3 and sometimes hourly so he wouldn’t drop too low. We need to try to figure out how to prevent big drops with Blue yet not feed so much he that he goes way up. I can’t figure out how to do that with Blue yet.

Yes, it does seem to go high after feeding a small amount while trying to keep him from dropping too low. It's maddening.

I'm around tomorrow. Just have to pick up some prescriptions down the street.

What is the carbohydrate percentage/amount in this?
    Answer This Question
    • This variety contains approximately 2.8% Carbohydrate content on an as fed basis (12.72% on a dry matter basis).

I found this on Chewy site in another area.
      It contradicts another section.
This info is for the Turkey & Salmon pate.
