    Morning all,

He's 447 AMPS but I expect him to drop like he's been doing recently. I probably
shouldn't say that knowing Blue has he own way of doing things.

Yes Jeanne, I knew Elise probably had fallen asleep but then there she was.
I'm starting to get an idea what needs to be done instead of my usual panic mode.

    I will test +2

You're doing just fine, Patty. :bighug:

I've put in a shout to Santy for Blue to get some of these dropped down the chimney:

I've ordered the limited edition ones with velcro soles.

    LOL love the boots.
I'm hoping he’ll drop fast. We’ll see what he has planned soon enough. I keep telling myself he is still on medicine. Hoping once he's done he’ll level out more. He's a lot better than he used to be!

How are you and your Noodle this morning?

Noooooooooooooooooo, not too fast! :nailbiting: Fast, deep drops can trigger bounces, and Blue doesn't need any help in that direction. :arghh:

I haven't sneezed yet today. Yet. Hanging fire on the Noodlebug bulletin till later. Hoping for something and don't want to jinx it by putting it in writing... :nailbiting:

How are you and Bluebird doing today, Patty?

Well, he didn't drop at all. Crazy.

We are great. Blue is napping and I'm thinking about taking a walk to try out my knee. I'll need my knee brace but might try....

Can't wait to hear about Noodle.
Do you have allergies on top of a cold?
Fall is the worst for me.

Hi. What did you feed Blue at+4 last night? Did you feed again before the last test?

I gave him low carb food. FF classic pate
No. I did not feed any more last night.

I was going through foods I have for Blue and marking cans with carbs. I saw in the food carb doc that the FF Naturals have 0 carbs. Is it a good idea to feed 0 carbs?

That’s another every cat is different thing as far as 0 carbs and trial and error. Some need more and some less. Max was extremely carb sensitive. Not all are.

I think Blue likely just bounced from the greens. I just wanted to make sure he didn't get mc.

Sorry to hear you have problems with allergies, Patty. Only allergies here are to biological washing detergents, fabrics which contain fibreglass.

Go gently if you decide to take a stroll. :bighug:

As Elise says above, this is very much an ECID thing. For example, some cats don't do so well on ultra-low carb foods but do great on, say, foods in the 6-7% range. Only way to find out is to trial the foods and see whether or not they impact BG levels.

    He's 364 +5

I was thinking I could buy some Naturals to see if it makes a difference. Then I could use low carb if he goes to low to see if it would help.
The LC seems to elevate his BG even though it's under 5% carbs.

Could you explain your thinking further, Patty? I'm not sure what you mean here.

There are several things that elevate BG levels:

    - incoming food.
    - breakdown of glycogen stores in the liver (via a process called glycogenolysis).
    - 'new' glucose synthesised primarily in the liver by drawing on the body's fat/protein reserves (via a process called gluconeogenesis).

Are you thinking about how high Blue bounces here? If yes, then those higher numbers are driven by the body producing hormones that cause the liver to release sugars from glycogen stores and to synthesise additional glucose. Medium and high carb wet foods used for steering may bump levels up a bit too but the additional carbs from the food would typically impact BG levels for a much shorter period than a bounce (hours for the food versus potentially days for a bounce). If this doesn't answer your query, let me know what you were angling at and I'll try again.

    Addendum:

If a kitty is uber-sensitive to carbs then perhaps even a LC food in the 3-4% bracket might give more of a bump to numbers than an ultra-low carb (ULC) alternative, but I doubt very much whether shifting to ULC overall would have any great impact on bounce-influenced high BG levels.

Okay, that makes sense now. I just thought the LC might be causing the elevation and if he ate no carbs it might regulate.

If the diet is all high carb then that will definitely lead to BG levels running in a higher range overall, hence the recommendation that feline diabetics are only given food that is less than 10%, and why a cat's BG levels can so dramatically improve and its insulin requirements decrease when a cat is transitioned from a high to low carb diet.

Someone just tried the 0% broth and her cat got diarrhea. It was the change.

    Yikes! That's all I need.
I'm getting ready to test again. I ran some errands after walking today since Blue was in higher numbers.

You might be right Mogs. We will see.
You hanging out or hitting your bed soon?

Talked to Sally a bit today and she is supposed to talk to her vet tomorrow. Thanks for taking care of her. I wish I could see her. She's lonely. She only sees her husband and papa. Her kids won't see her because they work and could be exposed to covid.
    I feel sad for her.

Me too, Patty. (((Sally))) Covid has caused so much heartache... :(

Sally and Lily have got to the point where there's no wiggle room left on Vetsulin. Lily's on a 0.25IU dose and she earned a 0.25IU dose reduction the day before yesterday. She still needs some insulin support but there's nowhere really left to go with Vetsulin. I went through very similar with Saoirse. The switch to Lantus helped me to continue her insulin treatment safely. I hope things go well for Sally with the vet tomorrow.

Been waiting for Sally to post Lily's PMPS to make sure the dose has worn off. She's just updated Lily's spreadsheet and all's OK. :)

Will be heading to the leaba fairly soon.

I think if she's not happy with the response she might be looking for a new vet too.
I hope she doesn't have too because with Covid it's hard. I want to look someone in
the eye and interview to make sure we click.

    Sweet dreams. Talk tomorrow.

Hi. I realized last night I was watching a taped The Voice so it was later than I thought. I’m watching the game. Dodgers aren’t starting so well. I’ll try and look in on you but no guarantees. If you need help and I don’t respond add the ? prefix and change your title. I think you know what to do though.

Yes, they have changed pitchers 4 or 5 times already. Wow

He's back up to 445 so I'm not sure what he'll do. It's so strange. I'll test again in +2 so we'll see what happens.
If you don't get back, I think I'll be okay. Thanks and hopefully the Dodgers will score some runs soon. Enjoy.

Had to edit OMG now they really need to start scoring.

323 +2 so I'm thinking he should be okay for the night. If you're still up and read this, what are your thoughts?

    Good game. They'll come back!

I don’t think he will get low tonight. I would call it a night and perhaps grab a test if you wake up.
It wasn’t their night. So many pitchers and not enough hitters.
