    Hi all,
Blue's in my lap and I'm sure wondering why I'm not paying enough attention to him.
He's seems fine but didn't eat as much this morning as normal. All meds given and I will
    test again +2-3.
I'll hope Blue's coat will return to normal.
Thanks for the advice on keeping track of cat meds. I'll get organized today.

When Troubles fur changed back to fluffy...It seemed over night. Blue will get there. ;)

We're down to 57 +6 and I was surprised. He did start his meds today for his URI. I am giving him some higher carb food now along with his regular food. He's eating everything in sight.

I was just about to post a suggestion you do just that. Test again 20-30 minutes after the food, especially as he's that hungry.

Better. If you haven't already done so, Patty, I suggest giving Blue another couple of teaspoons of grub and test again after 20-30 minutes, just to make sure he doesn't dip down again.

That's good. No need to feed anything at the moment. Just to be on the safe side check again not later than +9 (unless you see anything odd beforehand, e.g. Blue acting very hungry of a sudden).

He’s earned another reduction. Wow! Did your vet call or send lab results?

Yes, she did just call. The test she ran was average 469.

Since he’s been bouncing it’s kind of useless unless you have a comparison to before he started insulin. What did she say about it?

She said he clearly needs insulin for now with an average that high. She thinks he might go into remission eventually but she agrees with you that it may take a while to get him regulated. She's very happy you have been directing me. I think she's very shocked that he is down to .5 units. I hope this will be a good lesson for her treatment of future patients.

Well, Dr. Johnson us clearly very impressed with the SS and the help you and others are giving to Blue and I. As we go along I'll tell her about this site so she can pass it along to her patients.

As for tonight...should I wait and test PMPS or before? Will I be able to give even .25 if he's still low? This is so weird to me since at .75 he never got very low then as soon as we lower it his BG goes lower.

I'm really glad to hear the positive feedback you received from the vet about how well you're managing Blue's diabetes. Well deserved! (((Patty))) :)

96 is OK. You're at +9 so I'd suggest just keep visual monitor on his nibs. Maybe give him just a teaspoon of low carb to keep him coasting for another while, and obviously test him if you think anything's not quite right.

I think your suggestion to get an extra test in prior to PMPS is good. +11.5 might be a good one because it should hopefully help you to judge whether he's rising at PMPS.

Part of the high numbers could have been bouncing. Also, now he's on antibiotics and that can influence numbers.

Okay, we're at 224 PMPS and I have given him his .25 dose. Hard to see those lines on the syringe!!!
He's still eating. He's still taking naps on the new scale! Crazy boy. Oh and I also gave him his antiviral
medication. I'll test again +2 probably. Thanks girls for being here for Blue's crazy ride. :cat:
