Hello again, need some help please. Mae has been peeing outside the litter box for the last few days and today there was blood in her urine. She is going back to the vet tomorrow morning; I was just there with her yesterday to do a 2 week glucose check. She was at 332 which is an improvement from two weeks ago at 491. The glucose test yesterday was done 6 hours after her morning shot.

We just moved into a new house (been a week and a half) and my partner and I have both been sick so I haven’t started home testing her yet but I did buy all the stuff from Walmart and do plan to start within the next few days.

Mae is still eating Purina pro plan DM dry until I start home testing her. I’ve been slowly adding in some friskies wet food but she only seems to like the fish flavors which I think isn’t recommended right? Is salmon bad too?

wondering if anyone has had experience with their cat having blood in urine and what it could be. She pees a large amount and only saw blood the one time but of course freaked me right out.

thanks!

Update: just got back from the vet and she has a bladder infection so they gave me a two week course of Clavacillin (amoxicillin). They did an x ray to make sure no stones since she had blood in her pee but all good there.

How was the UTI determined? The stress of the move/new environment can cause red blood in the urine.
X ray showed bladder was irritated and inflamed plus they got a urine sample/did urinalysis. They gave me a course of amoxicillin to give her plus Cosequin to sprinkle on her food. She has an autoimmune disease and is on Cyclosporine to basically suppress her immune system so she doesn’t get crazy skin flare ups so unfortunately she is extra susceptible to infections.

Did the urinanalyss show any bacteria or what id it show that indicated an infectin?
Honestly I didn’t ask for specifics they just told me based on the urine and X-ray it was a bladder infection. The vet had told me when I called first that it could just be from the move but I wanted to get her checked out to be sure.
