Blood glucose too low for insulin

I have a diabetic cat who was getting 2 units of Prozinc, his fructosamine was high; vet had us do a glucose curve to find out if it’s not enough or too much insulin. Did the curve yesterday and most of the readings were low (down to the 50s) with the glucose level peaking up to 400 9 hours after the insulin. Vet office is closed today, talking to them tomorrow. In the meantime I’m assuming it’s best to skip his insulin doses today (depending on what his blood sugar is throughout today) I skipped the morning dose, because it was only 72, 30 minutes after eating and 108 almost 2 hours after eating. This was all 12 hours since his last dose. Interested to hear from anyone else who has also experienced this.

Yes you were correct tp skip this morning dose.
With the curve done at vet was was insulin dose and what were the various BG at what time after the dose?
Why were you getting curve at vet since you gave BG this morning and thus it appears you can test @home. Home testing is better.
It would be helpful if you record your BG in a spreadsheet that is viewable by other.

We also use a spreadsheet to track our cats BG so we know how the insulin is working and how low they are dropping so we know when to either increase or decrease the dose
We adjust the dose by 0.25 units at a time . We don't adjust the dose by going by the Pre Shots

About the spreadsheet
AMPS - means AM Pre Shot the first test you take in the AM ,you need to withhold food 2 hours before testing so it's not food influenced

Units is where you would put how much insulin you gave
+1 is one hour after giving insulin if you were to test then that's where you enter his _BG number
+2 two hours after giving insulin. ditto
+3 and so on until you get to PMPS - PM pre shot withhold food 2 hours before testing

+1 same as you do for AM cycle

We don't give times because we are all in different time zones that's why we use the + numbers

I thought from reading the post that they did the curve at home not at the vet @Coleman can you clarify please?

It sounds like your cat is on too high a dose. Can you tell us your cat’s name? The way we dose here, every time your cat goes under 90, it earns a 1/4 unit reduction so the dose should go down to 1.75. Are the syringes you use 1/2 unit marked? I’m tagging a few prozync users here @FrostD @Suzanne & Darcy
Should it be 2 reductions from the 50s during the curve and the 72 today for a dose of 1.5 units?

This is typically what I recommend, yes. When they go that low and we don't have any other data, I recommend a 0.5U reduction. So I would reduce to 1.5U (and that dose is held for at least a week, or you reduce again if he goes below 90).
