After Blackie ate tonight, his head started twitching. It did it for about a minute. And then I noticed that one eye is dilated more than the other. Anyone know what this is??
Keep an eye on him. If he seems to get worse: loss of coordination, food dribbles out of his mouth when he eats, then you should go to the emergency vet, if you have one in your community.
Otherwise, if I were you, I'd call your vet first thing in the morning and describe the symptoms Blackie is having at that point.
Has he ever had a hypo? I just ask because Cuddles used to have a little head twitch when she heard 'crinkly' noises, like a bag of chips. But this was after a severe hypo she had at night that I wasn't aware of until the next morning. She had seizure issues after that bad hypo.. the head twitch was the precursor for me to STOP whatever noise I was doing at the time! I'd definitely let your vet know about it & see what they say. May be some weird neurological thing that you'll want to keep a close eye on.
Ele, I hope it was just one of those things that happen occasionally. But you are wise to check with your vet tomorrow. Sending some "good for anything" vines.
My civvie Butthead had one eye less dilated than the other after having major surgery on his ear in September, so there was risk of nerve damage to the nearest eye. It seems to be fine now, but it took a while to get back to normal.
It sounds like it maybe something neurological like a seizure or TIA (ministroke).it may also be triggered by a hypo episode; In any case, I wouldn't just hope it goes away by it's self.you probably want to have kitty checked out when you can and get a blood glucose level if it happens again.
My cat did that last week and on the way to ER he crashed and had a seizure...I thought i lost her in the car but they were able to get his sugar back up.
Now it's too high and she is not eating and fragile. I am force feeding some Hills a/d and giving her low doses of insulin.
Any suggestions for me how to get her to eat? Yesterday she had a shot to get rid of any nausea if she had it, but it has not gotten her to eat, but it helped her stop spitting up that foamy spit. My cat is 15 1/2.
