I (finally! whew!) got a job, so haven't been around much the past few days. Hope everyone is doing ok! Trying to get caught up today. Unfortunately I only work 32 hrs so it's still not enough to pay the bills (arghhhhhhhhhhhh) but it least it will keep a roof over our heads! It is supposed to go to 40 hours next year, for at least part of the year, so that's a relief at least.

Bixie is puzzling me a bit lately - I've been seeing nausea off and on the past month or so - maybe once or twice a week. I took away the turkey Wellness and I think that has helped, but I've still seen a couple barfy blips on the screen, so I'm not 100% sure he is ok. My vet put him on Pepcid 1/4 tab SID for a couple weeks to see if that helps. Of course I've forgotten it a couple days, so can't tell for sure if that is helping or not. ohmygod_smile

If I were rich I'd just take him to the specialist and get an ultrasound & stuff & see where we're at, but that's not an option financially, though I'll put in on the burning credit card if needed. But hoping he will do well enough we can avoid that!!!!!

Specialist vet (when I was there with civie Noora, couldn't avoid that trip  but thankfully she is fine) said maybe I should try B12 shots for Bix and that might help IBD. I'm kind-o majorly confused on how B12 fits in with diabetes & IBD, will probably post on Health for info on that once I have a chance to do a little research & see what I can figure out from the Wiki & stuff. (She said B12 deficiency can be an indicator of cancer, so if his IBD has already turned, since B12 can help IBD, shots might help with his symptoms even if I can't afford tests/treatment for cancer.)

Last barfy episode was a big puzzler in the #s (haven't updated SS yet):

+24 137 .8u (a little nervous about the lower PS, but he's done fine before on this #, and I figured at +24 the risk is lower than say a +12 shot)
+6 180 (tested about 5 minutes after he barfed up some yellow bile stuff, I think it might have been the Budesonide I gave him about an hour before, clearly felt miserable for another hour or so)
+24 119 (hmmm, so either I seriously overshot, or the 180 was a stress spike? or something else? lately he's usually in the high blues or low yellows at +24)
+28 110 (WTF?)
+40 157 .4

So..... longest he's gone w/o a shot in quite a while if my memory serves. I have no idea why (not eating well? pancreas working better? overshot? random wonkiness?). I shot a 1/2 dose this morning since I don't know what's going on. I wondered if maybe I hypo'd him with that last shot and that's why he barfed, and then the 180 was a quick rebound spike? I don't really think so since he's had IBD nausea off & on lately & that makes more sense to me, but.... who knows.

I've seen people mention something about sometimes cancer causes them to actually get better #s. Anyone know what's up with that? Did I understand it right? I'm basically worried his IBD has turned to cancer, but not sure if I'm just being paranoid... Most of the time he is looking ok these days, but the nausea bouts are different than what I've seen with him before, and he's at (or past) max Budesonide dose for normal IBD.

Anyhow, that's what's going on with us!

Congratualtions on the new job!!! :-D Glad to see you back on the board.
My vet also told me to put Klinger on 1/4 of a pill of pepcid. I've tried it a few times when he wasn't interested in eating and just seemed wonky. It worked wonders for him. He was like a brand new kitty.
I hope it's not cancer. Sending good thoughts to Bixie.

Hey, congratulations on the new job. How do you like it so far?

Sorry about the barfing.

There have been a couple of cancer kitties lately Tucker is one, who's bg's inproved right before their dx, I think Tucker hypoed, they were saying that the cancer feeds on the sugar. So don't let it be that, ok?

Sending healing and calming vibes to Bix.
