Hey everyone, I thought I'd start a new thread about Biscuits. She's doing pretty good on the Levemir, still not where it needs to be, but it is definitely better than when she was on Vetsulin. I have finally managed to update her spreadsheet to where it is current. I will do Skittles next when I get time, but he has a different meter and until I had two meters, I was testing both cats with that one, so I don't know which numbers are his now and which belong to Biscuits. I guess I can just start with this month for him and go from there. He's pretty stable on Vetsulin but two nights ago I took his sugar and it was at 400, which is odd for him. He may have gotten into some dog food, but I didn't actually see him do that, so it's hard to know why it was so high.
In any case, I have updated my signature, I hope I remembered everything. I had to pare it down a bit because I had too many characters so I hope it makes sense.
Right now Biscuits is on 2 units of Levemir twice a day, using U-100 syringes. It seems that her numbers get high at night but come down pretty quickly with the Levemir. I don't know why her sugar goes up so much at night. She's not eating anything out of the ordinary so the only thing I can think of again is pain from the neuropathy. She is getting the Methyl-B12 pills every morning with her breakfast and she's eating just fine so it's hard to say what is going on. She's also on gabapentin once a day for pain but I'm not so sure it's doing much good right now. I guess we'll just go one day at a time and see how her pain levels are once the Levemir and her glucose levels get sorted out. Thanks for being patient with me on the spreadsheet. I will do my best to keep it current. Have a blessed day everyone! :D

One thing I wanted to add, I don't test Biscuits at night because she sleeps under my bed and it's impossible to get her out unless she wants to come out, which is rare. I wish I could test her then but she is stubborn when she wants to be, so I just leave her alone and check on her as often as I can to be sure she's not bottoming out.

I had trouble working out the SS…I can now see you have it upside down. I’m going to ask @Bandit's Mom to fix it for you.

I can see you are changing the dose all the time with the Levemir. Levemir like consistency and you need to leave the dose the same for at least 5 days in the beginning to let the depot fill and settle. So please stay with 2.5 units for 5 days unless Biscuits drops under 90 in which case you reduce the dose to 2.25 units.
I would really urge you to somehow work out a way to test Biscuits at night as cats often drop lower at night. You may need to contain her somewhere until you have done at least one test. If that test is lower than the preshot you would be wise to set the alarm and test again to see she is safe. She could be dropping really low at night and then back up in reds in the morning and you won’t know unless you are testing.
Please post each day and in a few days I will get you to swap over to the LLB page for help but let’s get you sorted out first.

Hi there! Just a heads up, I did give Biscuits 2.5 units consistently, it was my error on the spreadsheet where I put 2 units. I did do 3 units ONE time when she was over 600 in her glucose reading but not since then. I am going to the vet today and I am going to give her a printout of this spreadsheet to show her where we're at with the Levemir. I think she still needs a higher dose, maybe 3 or 3.5 units? She's staying in the 300-600 range and I really think it's due to pain. She has started licking her back as far as she can reach and I noticed if I touch her anywhere below the neck on her back, she goes ballistic. I really think she is in more pain than we realized and that can be contributing to her high glucose levels. She is eating less of the m/d right now as I am giving her more of the Weruva food in the morning and keeping her full longer, and by doing so, trying to discourage her from eating the m/d. On the date where she had the glucose reading of 585 at night, she had gotten into some dog food someone put on the floor (cause he's a dork and doesn't think about Biscuits liking that stuff!). I was really angry because he KNOWS she gets into dog food and we've already had to make changes in terms of where we put it so she won't get into it without someone noticing and either removing her or the food. I mean our dogs have to eat too and while they have designated spots to eat, she can be sneaky and get in there without anyone seeing her. Her glucose shot up significantly because of that and it really upset me because I can't watch her all night long and depend on other household members to work with me for the few hours I do get to sleep. I've been trying to stay up a bit later to get her glucose readings at night and have successfully done so but I'm not seeing significant changes in her readings even at that late hour.
Anyway, the spreadsheet is up to date for now. I will let you know what the vet says later today. Have a blessed day!
