Hey everyone, I thought I'd start a new thread about Biscuits. She's doing pretty good on the Levemir, still not where it needs to be, but it is definitely better than when she was on Vetsulin. I have finally managed to update her spreadsheet to where it is current. I will do Skittles next when I get time, but he has a different meter and until I had two meters, I was testing both cats with that one, so I don't know which numbers are his now and which belong to Biscuits. I guess I can just start with this month for him and go from there. He's pretty stable on Vetsulin but two nights ago I took his sugar and it was at 400, which is odd for him. He may have gotten into some dog food, but I didn't actually see him do that, so it's hard to know why it was so high.
In any case, I have updated my signature, I hope I remembered everything. I had to pare it down a bit because I had too many characters so I hope it makes sense.
Right now Biscuits is on 2 units of Levemir twice a day, using U-100 syringes. It seems that her numbers get high at night but come down pretty quickly with the Levemir. I don't know why her sugar goes up so much at night. She's not eating anything out of the ordinary so the only thing I can think of again is pain from the neuropathy. She is getting the Methyl-B12 pills every morning with her breakfast and she's eating just fine so it's hard to say what is going on. She's also on gabapentin once a day for pain but I'm not so sure it's doing much good right now. I guess we'll just go one day at a time and see how her pain levels are once the Levemir and her glucose levels get sorted out. Thanks for being patient with me on the spreadsheet. I will do my best to keep it current. Have a blessed day everyone!
One thing I wanted to add, I don't test Biscuits at night because she sleeps under my bed and it's impossible to get her out unless she wants to come out, which is rare. I wish I could test her then but she is stubborn when she wants to be, so I just leave her alone and check on her as often as I can to be sure she's not bottoming out.
