BG up after shot

Not uncommon with some cats, Tracy, to go up at +1, +2. Usually due to the food spike as most people feed then. Also statistically not that much higher. Meters have that 20% variance.

The important thing is when she starts down. :mrgreen: It will be good to know if that is her pattern so early higher numbers won't be a surprise. We have a PZI kitty who is the king of early spikes - usually close to 100 points higher than preshot! Then he starts sliding fast.....

Jose's just following KT's lead today - 315 and 394.

I sincerely doubt that the insulin had started working that quickly - it usually takes a couple of hours for onset. That would explain why it was higher. Did you feed her between those numbers? BG will usually react before the insulin...

HUGS!

Now he is going in the right direction and a really nice drop at that. :-D

146 @ +9
324 @ +12

she has been at 2 units for last seven of eight cycles. should i up her to 2.25 tomorrow? or something smaller? i have the u100 syringes.

Your nadir and preshot numbers suggest a dose increase is a good idea. The amount depends on your gut. If you will be around to monitor mid cycle, +.25 should be fine.

In addition to a food spike, keep in mind the FDA allows meters to vary 20% form the "true value".

ex
100 -> 80 - 120
200 -> 160 - 240
etc

This also means that if 2 numbers are within 20% of each other, they may be considered the same.

doesn't 20% seem like a big number when dealing with such small numbers? i'm just sayin'.

jose's pmps numbers have been low the last two nights, last night 145 & 146 an hour later. no shot. tonight 129 & 214 an hour later. again no shot. everything else is normal. with the 20% rule, that 214 could be well below 200.

Tracey, your spreadsheet isn't working. Can you go back to your copy, choose file under the title( on the left hand side) and choose publish to the web and put that URL in your signature.

I think if you have time and Jose hasn't eaten, you could shoot a reduced dose tonight. But I would like to see your ss to make sure.

yes, i am VERY frustrated with the ss. i have been fighting with this! i have copied the url several times. it was working & stopped @ some point - i don't know. i have been trying to fix it for two days.

I don't know why it quits working. One thing you can try is to go back to your signature with the spreadsheet URL the way it is. Highlight the whole URL. Then go up to the top of the white box where there is the button with the letters URL in it. Click on that to see if it keeps the spreadsheet URL correct.

When you put an URL in your post, you have to highlight and use the button or it will quit working. Maybe the spreadsheet URL works the same?

Yeah! Spreadsheet's up!

Guess you will have to skip tonight. I think I would try 2 units in the morning. Your number is likely to be high because it will be 24 hours since her last shot, but we want two shootable numbers and 2.2 isn't giving you that. See if you can hold the 2 units for a few cycles and get some midcycle numbers in.

Interesting that she went down on her own without insulin, Tracey. That may mean her pancreas is helping out. You will want to keep a close eye on her numbers so you can catch any possible low dips.

the frustration continues! tonight she was @ 487. i didn't believe it, so retested - 468. still just gave 2 units. is it normal to take this long to get things figured out. we've been home testing for four weeks. maybe that isn't long in the scheme of things? please tell me, that like everything. this is a process and takes time.
