? BG test pre shot and food?

I have a question, my cats on basgalar (long acting insulin) When recording the AM /PM reading, is it better to do it pre food/pre insulin shot or Post food/pre insulin shot?

Is there a specific reason to do the BG check pre food/pre shot?

We usually give food and then insulin 30 mins later. (We were doing both at the same time, food and the insulin while hes eating, but find the 30 mins wait gives us better results) and lately we've been doing food, 15/30 mins later BG check and then insulin

You want to withhold feeding 2 hours before you test AMPS and PMPS because you don't want the BG number to be influenced by food and you want to be sure that the BG number is safe to give insulin.
