GM everyone. Two questions The last 3 days Bubba's BG values have been 306 lowest to this morning his highest at 410. He is eating and actually has gained back a 1/2 lb. Prior to these readings on the 19th he had 221 and 281. Then I did a fur shot and then all hell broke loose. This morning I remembered the vet saying that if three days in a row his values hang high, creep up the insulin by a 1.2 unit. This morning I only gave 1/4 unit more. Was that the right thing to do? Sue and Oliver are going to help me set up a spreadsheet then the group will be able to guide me better. Guess I am just feeling frustrated.......
2nd questions: Last night I couldn't get a lot of blood for the test, so I used a tiny amount. My meter beeped and the value converted to 500! My husband said to do it again and use more blood. Then I got a 410 reading. The question is, can the meter give you an inflated value with not enough blood? I thought it wouldn't beep if there was not enough blood on the strip.

Yes, that was the right thing to do! Good choice.

When you get a reading that makes you wonder if it's accurate, it's a good idea to get a second reading... preferably with a new drop of blood. So, again, you did the correct thing. I also use the ReliOn micro and find that if there's not enough blood, I get an error code. It's not unusual to have two, simultaneous tests that differ. Keep in mind that your test results can be off by as much as +/- 20%, that's just how meters work. I'd say since both readings were high, they were both likely dependable.

Thanks Hannah for your response. This is so nerve racking for a newbie. I really appreciate all the support.
Whenever you have a question, please ask away! We know how overwhelming this can be... there's so much to learn. But you have come to the right place, as there are so many here with tons of knowledge and experience. You mentioned that Bubba's spreadsheet will soon be up and running, and that will be a huge help when asking for advice. You're doing great! Keep up the good work!
