Oliver's numbers were doing really well this week, and then all of a sudden he had a large increase. The only change I made in his routine is to add Zobaline into his Fancy Feast feedings. Oliver has severe neuropathy; it was recommended on the forum to give the Zobaline a try. Ordered on Amazon and it came very quickly.
What should I do to get his BG numbers down? I am concerned that his high numbers are going to worsen the neuropathy.

Oliver is bouncing from the 90 at+5 a couple of days ago. Bouncing can happen when the cat drops too fast, too low or lower than the kitty is used to. The cat then dumps stored glucose and regulatory hormones into the system and the BG skyrockets. Bounces can last from 1 to 6 cycles and there is nothing you can do about it but wait it out. Bouncing is very common in newly diagnosed diabetic cats.
I would not increase the dose….wait until the bounce clears to see what happens.

I very much doubt the zobaline had anything to do with the rise in BG. I used it for years and it doesn’t effect the BG.

Thank you for the guidance. I will wait out the bounce and continue to give him the Zobaline.

I will not increase his insulin at this time. Under the "slow method", how will I know when it is time to increase or decrease insulin?

With SLGS you hold the dose for 7 days (unless your kitty drops under 90 and then you decrease the dose). After 7 days you do a curve and then post and ask for advice.
We increase and decrease in 0.25 unit increments so I would not increase with smaller amounts. It becomes too complicated and the smaller doses are for when you are almost at the best dose. At this stage I would always ask for guidance with increases and decreases until you are a bit further along the journey and understand the method thou are using.
I would suggest you print off the SLGS method so you can refer to it.
