So I've read exhaustively all the message boards, wikis, personal blogs and everything else I can find online. But now I'm confused. @-)
I've seen several vet postings listing blood glucose numbers and where your cat should be. And my vet said he should land between 80-132. Problem is none of them have come to a consensus as to which are the "right" numbers. So I've been using the wiki guidelines as a good average (http://petdiabetes.wikia.com/wiki/Blood_glucose_level). What BG numbers do you use?
My cat has been hovering at the high 70s, spiking on occassion to the low 90s. Based off of these readings, I haven't given him an insulin shot in almost six weeks now. Should I be concerned that he's going hypoglycemic? nailbite_smile

One thing that's important to remember is that even if a diabetic kitty is in remission, they are and always will be diabetic, so maintaining a low carb, canned diet to keep them that way is very important! A very common way cats end back up on insulin is because dry food was reintroduced the diabetic (or stolen from another cat in the house) and undid all that hard work. Also, dental issues and/or infections can cause a relapse, so you want to check BG every so often (I test Bandit once or twice a month) so you can catch issues early, treat the problem, and possibly do another short stint of insulin and get them OTJ again if they need it.
