SO,
i am sure this has been discussed NUMEROUS occassions..
BUT I have the ultra one touch mini..and sometimes the strips don't suck up all the blood...which then gives me an error code, but then this also makes me have to poke again, and again and sometimes even again....
NOW, also this means up to 6 strips for one good reading...sometimes more.... I have been testing for three weeks and have gone through 300 strips already, this is more than likely NOT right! I thought it might be something I am doing..
ANYWAY, long story short..have been doing some googling and this may not be my fault but the strips...apparently there are issues whether one touch knows about this or not..
REGARDLESS, these strips are EXPENSIVE anywhere from 70.00-90.00 for one hundred...

What meters are you all using out there?
Unfortunately the ReliOn meter is NOT sold here in the Canadian Wal Marts...

So looking for suggestions, and also, if anyone else is using the ultra mini, are you having the same issues??

For a fast sipping meter that sucks the blood really well, the Accu Check Aviva or the Bayer Contour are both great.

My favorite is the PrecisionXtra. We got it free on a promotion and then ordered the strips on ebay. (They are expensive but probably cheaper in Canada.) It was easy to use and took a tiny sample. One of the nice things is that you can test the blood for ketones with it. To do that, you have to buy a different strip but they usually come in small packs. They are expensive, but if you find yourself waiting around for Mowgli to pee and worrying about ketones, it is a great tool.

I love the Bayer Contour because it sips very well and needs a very tiny amount, much less than the one touch. I use the one touch as a backup but the main one I use is the Bayer one.
I tried the PrecisionXtra, but it was worse than the OneTouch for me.
I have the Aviva and they are OK, a bit better than the OneTouch, but I decided on Bayer because it sips the best and it also gives me the lowest readings. As well, I like the no coding, but don't know if coding is better than no coding.

keri it is more likely that you are not sipping right.
the sip comes in thru the very tip of the strip, you don't spoon it or lap it up. just touching the flat edge of the end of the strip is the suction
i've had a one touch forever and had to learn that lesson the hard way.
but actually all meter will sip this way.

if yu had a magnifying glass you would see that it is slit open at the end edge.

i'm addicted to my freestyle meters. i've tried half dozen others but i can't turn my back on the freestyles.....accurate, consistent, minimal blood needed, small and easy to use. downside: strips are pricey unless you keep your eyes open for good deals.
