BG 64 +4

I’m starting to sound like a broken record. BG 64 at +4. Just gave Max MC, but no syrup.

At this moment. He’s not showing any clinical signs of hypo. Should I give syrup? Good news is another dose reduction, but this is making me nervous as this is happening every cycle with a dose reduction. Thoughts?
 
No need for the MC that I know of. The 92 was high enough. Test again in 30.

Isn't racing down the dosing ladder exciting?

Regarding dosing (I'm not a Prozinc user). That 64 was borderline. With meter variance it could well have been a 70 or and 60.
Since you are relatively new at this, and since Max is in a hurry, I'd take the decrease. If it doesn't work, you can always go up again. But let's see what experienced Prozinc users have to say.

Thank you. My general thought was if 80-120 is normal (AT2) and he’s been eating at +1, +2, shouldn’t his BG have been somewhat higher? That’s why I gave him the additional tsp of MC since we haven’t hit nadir yet. Still learning

You want to keep Max surfing in green numbers above 68 if possible, not sending him to the moon.
High green numbers is where healing takes place. The longer you can keep him in the greens, the more healing and the more Max's body will get used to being in green.
Quite a few steroid-induced diabetics can go into remission once off the steriods. If Max is one of them, it can be a crazy but worthwhile journey down the dosing ladder.

Wow, Jess has beautiful numbers. This is my second sugar kitty that’s gone diabetic due to steroids and I learned real quick that ECID. My first was pretty predictable, regulated early, was on Nov N, ate DM dry and wet and went into remission in just a few short weeks. I’ve changed my thinking on Max and took his dry away, feeding FF and DM (until the case is used up) and I’m testing more often. I’ve learned so much from this site.

Rebecca is using an Alphatrak, so any BG <68 is like <50 on a human meter. Prozinc hits harder and faster than Lantus, so borderline isn't part of the picture here. Max also drops really fast, so some MC food was the right call here.

The dose reduction needs to be taken.

Rebecca, you might try reducing the dose even a bit more than the normal 0.25U. How about 1.25U for tonight's shot?

Your choice. 1.5U or 1.25U. Take your pick.

Thanks! We had a pretty good day today. I spoke to my vet today who I’ve been seeing for 20 years. He’s really happy with Max’s progress and wants me to email him the research I’ve done and the routine I’ve developed with Max. He seemed very interested in the FF Classic pate and the process of introducing LC, MC and HC. I even sent him Max’s SS. I really respect and appreciate that he’s listening to me and keeping an open mind. I’ve read too many posts where vets won’t listen to their clients.
