BG 157 Should I give insulin?

Another AMPS lower test for Milo (157) but not like the 108 a few days ago. I read that between 150-200 the three choices:
  • Between 150 and 200 (8.3-11.1 mmol/L), you have three options:
    • a.) give nothing
    • b.) give a token dose (10-25% of the usual dose)
    • c.) feed as usual, test in a couple of hours, and make a decision based on that value
I chose to feed and test in a couple hours, but I have to leave in and hour and won't get home until noon. I'm assuming I should not give him insulin that late? He normally gets his insulin at 6:30AM.

So you will be gone for several hours, is that correct?
If you give the dose at noon you will be putting your schedule way out of kilter.
It’s a shame you haven’t been able to get any mid cycle tests in so we can see how low the dose is taking Milo. That would be a great help if you can get one test in during each cycle.
I think I would skip the dose and if you want to make the pm dose earlier and change the schedule to an earlier time, you can do it then.

She may want to reduce the dose further.
I would leave some food out for him and if you can test when you get home at noon, that would be good data.
Are you giving him a treat when you test? Or let him eat something small as you test?
 
Skip was the right thing to do.

Safe thing to do until we get more midcycle tests is to drop to 0.25U.

Was he in steroids recently? Or did he have some other infection at the time of diagnosis?
 
Sorry, this was a crazy/hectic day. My family leaves town tomorrow morning so life will go back to normal. Just tested, Milo is at 305. I went ahead and fed and gave the .5U a bit early. Should I start the .25 starting tomorrow?

No steroids or infection at time of diagnosis. Only issues were extreme thirst, flooding the litter box, and a different smell to the urine. Outside of that, at time of diagnosis Milo is in excellent health.

Thank you for these suggestions. My family is heading back home this morning, so I will have my days back and will be able to focus on Milo a bit more (get some much needed extra testing) until I head back to work. I do give him a treat right after I test him, nothing before or during the test.

Thanks! I gave the .25 U. Saturday I plan to get multiple tests, possibly a test or twos after 12 noon tomorrow. Thanks again for all of your help.
