BEWARE!!!!

I have been scammed by someone named HATTIE from Buffalo(so she says) that posted in FDMB. I learned about this deal through a post by an FDMB member in Feline Acromegaly group. I thought this was something legitimate and I agreed to pay $125 for 4 boxes of Levemir. She was supposed to mail it to me on Monday Oct. 13th but that was a holiday and the post office was closed. I have not received any messages from her since Sunday even though I have been inquiring. At first I thought she was ill but I checked her FDMB profile and she did visit this site on Wednesday October 15th. At that time HATTIE deleted all her previous posts. Since we communicated by PM, I do have copies of all the messages we exchanged, if anyone is interested in reading them I can send them by PM. I doubt that I will receive the pens nor get my money back but I want to make this public in as many forums as possible so nobody else falls into this trap. Please help me spread the word! Thank you.

Have you let the webmaster Robert know? He may have some info that can be used to track down this person - MAC address, restore function for recovering deleted posts, etc.

And you should file a police report.

Did you use PayPal? They may have some options too.

Did you also contact the moderator of the acromegaly group where this occurred?

Cat Lover told me in a PM that she notified Robert. I have also notified Robert and active Global mods on the FDMB via PM.
I don't know if deleted posts can be recovered. Robert will have to address that issue.

I'm not sure if it's common knowledge or not, but in most states it's illegal to buy or sell prescription drugs medications and mail or ship prescriptions to another party. There are some exceptions, but it's my understanding they don't apply to cats. Most of the time we don't hear of any problems, but there is a *possible* risk of confiscation/prosecution involved. Most who buy/sell/share insulin for our kitties know this upfront and make a decision to assume the risk to help our furry friends. Heck, there's also a risk involved every time you buy anything from an unknown party.

Venita may comment if she sees this post. She's more familiar with the legalities than I am.

The Acro group Cat Lover belongs to is not associated with the FDMB.



No need to panic just yet. This could very well be a case of Hattie not realizing the Post Office was closed for the holiday on Monday and simply wasn't able to get to the PO on Tuesday or even Wednesday. Who knows? After all, the package has to travel from one side of the country to the other. I'm hoping Hattie follows through as expected and Cat Lover is not disappointed.

She contacted me too when she posted a question is anyone in Buffalo--which I am. I didnt know she was trying to sell Levemir--she said she didn't drive, could I meet her somewhere. I told her I didn't want to buy Levemir from her & that ceased the conversation. It was really odd. Good luck.
