Hi guys- any suggestions on where to get the Fronline Fleas control liquid? It seems very $$, but here in Fla., vet said it is a must.....today, I will get a dose at Petsupermarket for right now, then will order on line at your recommendations...

Alan

P.S.- Those of you who followed my "Opinions on Methyl B-12 " link and the diabetes info, I have a posted a happy (so far!) prognosis for Ben- please read if you like..Vet gave Ben a shot yesterday for his fleas, but said surely my other cat, Jerry has fleas and to get some Frontline or similar ASAP for Jerry....

I get mine from Foster and Smith. There is also a site called Petmed or Petmeds that is reliable. There a few places cheaper but I had to wait forever or got the wrong product.

I would stay away from the prescription flea products that you have to give by pill or injection. One of my cats almost went into liver failure from one of these products. Thank god she is still with me now at twenty years old.

Did you decide what to do about the insulin? I have an almost full bottle of lantus and Nomad is now in remission. You are welcome to it if you decide to put Ben on lantus. I am in the Boca or Deerfield beach area at least twice a week. If I can help you with anything let me know private message.

Thanks for the info BUT Ben already was given the shot by the vet..if you read my link on the 'OPNIONS" post which has the insulin info, I have updated the story since yesterday's clinic visited...looks like Ben may be in remission..I will know for sure Tuesday, when he is seen by the specialist..BUT thanks so much for your offer...

Wow, thank you Larry. That is incredible, so since Tess is using Frontline Plus which calls for 0.03ml/pound and she weighs 8.5 lbs she would need .255ml for a dose. That would be just under 1 .3cc insulin syringe per dose, one large dog dose would last her a full year!! Do I have that right?

It is not my link. It has been posted various times by various caretakers in the past when your type of question was asked.

if you have multiple cats you can use the syringe with the large dog pack and dose all of them - but the vet tech told me you need to store the remainder that was opened in the syringe. then you can use the remainder the following month.

in other words, if you poke the needle into a single month single dose pack to withdraw some, it won't keep in that pack until the next month. you withdraw the remainder into the syringe to store it.

i had bought some at our feed store and it didn't seem to work - my indoor cat had a ton of fleas. the vet said that frontline can come from china in the same packaging but be mostly water. also, around here apparently we're having a run of frontline-resistant fleas and most people i know, who've had good success with frontline in the past, are all switching to Advantage for the time. I've switched both my cats over after using frontline for years and it's cleared up the fleas. i do buy it from the vet.

I had exactly the opposite happen. I used Advantage for years and it suddenly stopped working so that is when I switched to frontline plus.. I believe the fleas can become resistant like a virus or bacteria can.

I couldn't afford Frontline, or any perscription flea control either. I went to PetSmart and got a "natural" one - didn't work very well... so I got some at WalMart (I know, some of you guys hate that store, but some of us have no choice) for around $4 - and it worked GREAT!
