Hello all,
Long time, no post from me, its been over 5 years since my Jericho went to heaven. I have two 15 1/2 year old brothers, one of whom was recently determined to be hyperthyroid. Once he started on his pill he gained some weight and is now maintaining. His brother, however, I've noticed weight loss/ muscle mass loss while everything as far as eating, drinking, personality is normal. I've also noticed his hair is thinning. I'm waiting for more specific blood work to come back tomorrow. They also took an xray while he was at the vet and he has an enlarged heart, which all things combined feel could be because of long term use of steroid for his asthma.
At any rate, lt seems to me that in order to gain back muscle he will need higher protein food, but looking at binky's food chart it looks as though the higher protein foods are also higher carb, and I also have a third cat who is a bit pudgy and probably could do without higher carb food.
So I have no problem getting different foods for all of the cats, but I'm curious what other's experiences are with this and what foods you chose and why. To me my baby looks extra skinny and I want him to gain asap. I also don't see fancy feast on the binky list and am curious as to why, since the cats love this.
Thanks so much in advance!
Amy
