Best feeding option?

So this morning we have good numbers going. I don't know if its because I gave her before grain Turkey which is supposed to be 1% carbs, or because since she doesn't care for it all that much she didn't eat the whole serving (1/2 of 5.5 oz can)...I just tested her at +6 and her reading was 91 (yay) but I have yet to give her her mid-meal. First of all....should I stick with feeding just the before grain since its lowest carb? Or the Wellness which she eats more of? Or alternate maybe use a smaller or larger portion of either for am and pm or mid-meals. (Is this too complicated yet?) My other concern is that if I chose to feed only before grain, the 5.5 oz can is 150 calories, while the same can of Wellness is 210 or something. I want to make sure she gets enough calories. I guess I could try doing only the before grain and if I notice her losing weight add in some Wellness or something? Any ideas? Oh yeah...also...should I do the 4 meals per day or 2? I could leave out breakfast and dinner for 4 hours tops until she finishes? Or just stick with 4 meals? :dizcat

Nice mid-cycle number!
Question - how much does chocolate weigh, and it what she weighs now around her "ideal" weight? That'll determine what kind of calories she needs.
Will she eat the two types of canned mixed together? That would be the easiest solution to which to feed when.
As for timing and frequency of meals. When I was treating Bob, I kept it at two meals, 12 hours apart. But he was hungry in between. I tried using shrimp or treats to pacify him. Now I feed him and Mullet two "main" meals, and two snacks (about 1/2 as much food as they get at breakfast and dinner), in between meals.
It really depends on how she eats. If she was a grazer before diagnosis, then the 4 meal plan probably works best for her. If she was a "hoover" and cleaned her bowl at meal time, or soon thereafter, then 2 could work. I think human diabetics are encouraged to eat many small meals a day rather than eat on a "normal" schedule. Actually, I think that method works best for humans whether diabetic or not.

She weighs about 11 pounds..maybe slightly more. I'd say shes at a perfect weight. She's also pretty sedentary, just likes to lounge around. I never thought of mixing the two lol I think I'll try that for her pm feeding. Even with the Wellness (which shes not crazy about but definitely likes more than the before grain) I'll pour all the juice from the classic FF which I feed my other 2 kitties to flavor up the food and she loves it. Then for the mid-day meals when I'm not opening FF for the other cats I put Forti Flora on it and she loves that too. If I feed her FF she will eat almost all 3 oz within an hour or two, which she doesn't really do with the other brands. So maybe if I'm feeding the other brands I should do the 2 large and 2 small meals?
