Benjamin seems to be doing pretty well the last few days, I was just wondering if someone would take a look at his spreadsheet. Should I should stick with 1.5u for 2 more days and get some more numbers? Thanks for the help!

Hi Cindy,

I think I would leave the dose alone for another day or two, mostly because of one comment I saw on his SS. Last night, when you saw that 85 at +4, is says you fed him a tbsp of FF with gravy? I understand why you may have done that, in order to get his numbers higher (maybe so you could get some sleep?). But, if you hadn't given him higher carb food at that point, he may have dropped a little more? Like I said, I understand why maybe you didn't want that happening in the middle of the night.

But my point is, it looks like this dose is "working" if he's getting green nadir numbers, and you may not have to up the dose if you find that this dose is working well. You might even see that he may need less insulin if you see lower green numbers in the "middle". If you can continue to get data, especially mid-cycle numbers or one or two "overnight" numbers in the next couple of days, you'll have a better idea what the "next step" should be. His numbers do look very good at this point, I think.

Thanks, Carl. Yes, I gave him the bit of FF with gravy because I was worried overnight. Why do they always get the low numbers at night? I will maintain the same dose for a few days and see how it goes.

Some cats do go lower at night--I always made sure Bandit had some low carb canned food available half way through his cycle to be safe while I was sleeping.

It looks like 1.5u is giving you some good action, so I would hold this dose for now.

Thanks, Julia. I did just get a timed feeder for Benjamin so I can set it to open during the night. Now I can feed him more regularly at every 6 hours. He is always starving, so he eats any food that I put down in about 60 seconds! I think he's at a good weight right now, so I don't want him to get heavy again. His owner said he used to be 22 lbs. before he got sick.
